Celebrated my partners birthday here and boy what an experience! The food, service and atmosphere is outstanding. We were absolutely overwhelmed by the whole experience and we will be returning to this gem of a restaurant. If you want to have a dining experience second to none, then book in here for meal - it's amazing!!

“Good but nothing exceptionnal”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

We took the smoked salmon and the Haggis starter. We had the lamb and the venison as main dishes and 3 cheeses with crackers and the lemon mousse as desserts. We enjoyed our meals but nothing exceptional, no sparkle or "wow" factor.

With the 28£ chilean malbec wine the bill came to a bit over 100£, which is a bit steep i think, especially giving the fact the restaurant is a small underground cave. You can eat so much better for that kind of money in Paris for example.

“Intimate and great atmosphere”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Despite the location on the touristy High Street, this restaurant feels genuine. It's family run with few tables which gives it an intimate and cosy atmosphere. Food is excellent, with a focus on traditional Scottish cuisine. A visit is highly recommended.

“Tiny wonderful restaurant, lovely special service”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Took my partner here for birthday treat on our Easter break. Fabulous. From the minute you walk in you feel important to them, service friendly and attentive. He had the venison i had the fillet steak both excellent and a lovely wine list from inexpensive to sky's the limit. If you want special and intimate, try Dubh Prais.

“Quite simply fantastic”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

We searched for restaurants on trip advisor while in Edinburgh for a short break and liked the sound of the Dubh Prais and I am so glad we tried it. We phoned to book and luckily they managed to squeeze us in. Service is top notch, and the waitress certainly knew what she was talking about and gave us great recommendations. Every course we had was quite simply fantastic. The food is of such high quality as is the wine and the port I had with the cheese board to finish. I cannot rave about this restaurant enough and when I am next in Edinburgh this is top of my list to come back to. Definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to.
