We booked a private 3 hour walking tour with Gareth on our second day in Edinburgh. We were there during the festival and Gareth did a great job editing our route to avoid the crowds and to not cover areas we had seen before. He's informative, fun and easy going, which makes for an outstanding tour guide. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gareth and a walking tour is an excellent way to explore a very walkable city.
Thank you for such lovely feedback! I'm really pleased you enjoyed the walk, and it was my pleasure to be able to show off a bit of our (very busy) city! I hope you had as a good a time on the rest of your Scotland trip. Safe travels, G
We booked a walking tour with Gareth a long way in advance, as we were keen to be able to start our visit with a tour.
What can we say!? Gareth certainly knows his stuff, and was so helpful with any and every question we had in the (long!) lead up to our visit!
We covered quite a lot of ground in the Old Town, although it didn't seem like it. Seeing places we would never have found on our own - and learning so so much about Edinburgh and its history.
Gareth asked throughout what we would like to get from this tour, and didn't disappoint!
We would most definitely recommend you book your tour without delay - don't miss out on this opportunity!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! It was my pleasure to show you both around, and I hope you enjoyed the castle and the Tattoo just as much. Safe travels, G
I've lived in Edinburgh for 30 years and I learned new things. Gareth knows his stuff and delivers it well.
Thanks for your kind words! It's always heartening when locals find something new and interesting from taking a tour of their city! Best wishes, G
This was a wonderful way to start the day in Edinburgh, and is a great thing to do early in your trip as it serves to frame the experience. The walk isn't too strenuous but you cover a lot of ground and get a look at a side of the old city that is unique. Our guide was great, had a lot of interesting anecdotes, and steered clear of providing the usual potted tour of the old city. Definitely worth doing!
Thank you for such lovely feedback - I'm really glad that you enjoyed the walk, and I hope you had a great time exploring the rest of Edinburgh! Safe travels, G
On a typically windy Edinburgh morning Gareth took us away from the Festival bustle for an enjoyable and informative tour. The small group helped a lot as it was easy to keep together and to hear what was said. Booked the tour through the EdFringe website.
Thanks for your lovely review! I'm glad you enjoyed the walk and felt the benefit of the smaller group - I hope you have a great time during the rest of the festival too! Best, G
Gareth was a fantastic tour guide, including not only the history and facts of the locations we passed but also just enough commentary to give us a true sense of place. He made conversation between strangers easy, and focused his information on things we'd be interested in, once he learned a bit about us. Cannot recommend highly enough!!
Thanks for your incredibly kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed the walk, and felt the benefit of being in a smaller group. I hope you enjoyed the rest of Edinburgh as much. Safe travels, G
