Description: Opening Hours:- MONDAY - Saturday. Lunch 12pm-2pm Dinner 5pm-10.30pm West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.

“Good, imaginative cooking. Go there”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

I went with a group of friends, this was an excellent experience. The set price menu had really interesting choices in each course and was brilliant value. The service throughout was friendly and courteous and although we were the last to leave, we were not hurried out. All in all, a really good meal for all the right reasons. I would certainly go back and I would recommend.

“Big birthday lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

28 of us went here for lunch this weekend to celebrate a 50th birthday. It's rare to find a restaurant that can cater at volume with such panache. Excellent menu choice (pea kafir lime leaf and ginger soup a particular triumph), food superb, service exceptional, prices utterly reasonable. Really, we couldn't have asked for more. Thanks so much to the team for making it a really special event. We'll definitely be back!

“One of the best bistros in Edinburgh”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

I've been here a few times now and always found the food delicious; good combinations of flavours, interesting menu and well executed. The service is also exemplary with a warm welcome every time and attentive but not interfering service. A firm favourite of mine.

“Imaginative menu and good cooking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013

This is a great little restaurant. The menu has been put together with care and the cooking is of a high standard. The staff are welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. We ate there on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was full which is testament to the fact they've got it right.
