Description: Up and coming chef Jason Gallagher has done a fine job in turning the former haunt of local 'celebrity' chef Juliet Lawrence Wilson into a luxurious showcase of his own exciting style of Modern European cuisine. The basement space really is a lovely little restaurant for a romantic meal or special occasion. Black-painted walls decorated with modern art work well with plush golden upholstered chairs, thick white table linen and fairy lights to create an especially intimate atmosphere. Gallagher works with fresh, seasonal ingredients so the menu often changes, but the offerings are guaranteed to be indulgent and of the kind that feel like they're a real treat to be eating. Perfect service too.

Have been along this street a few times and did not realise that there was such a great restaurant here...had a wonderful family meal here.

There is a great choice of dishes on both the A La Carte menu and the Set Menu (2 or 3 courses) which is currently available from Tuesday to Friday.

Was glad we had made a reservation as there were at least 2 couples turned away while we were there due to being fully booked - only around 10 tables so booking would be recommended / essential to avoid any disappointment.

Quality of the dishes we had was very good, as was the wine list.

Also very impressed with the waiting staff who had a smile and a warm welcome for everyone as they arrived. They were also offering to call a taxi for any patrons who had finished their meals and were getting ready to leave - as the restaurant is in a position where mobile signal could be patchy at best as it is below street level with 3/4 floors above it.

All in all - thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would recommend to anyone at the drop of a hat.

We had our annual Board Meeting in Edinburgh at the end of last week, with people flying in from the USA and Israel. Being the organiser, I searched the internet for a reasonably priced restaurant for the Board dinner - which is not easy in Edinburgh - and found The Stockbridge. We held the dinner for 20 there last Friday evening and I have to say the food on the set menu, for £24.99 per head, was absolutely superb. I had a variety of pork for starters, which was beautifully presented, as well as extremely tasty, followed by coley on a bed of mashed potatoes and other vegetables. I then had the most delightful trio of desserts of chocolate brûlée, warm chocolate brownie with walnuts, and milk chocolate ice cream. Everyone commented on the high standard of the food. We stuck to the house wines, which could not have been better. I did not taste the white wine, but the red was very smooth indeed. Finally, the service, under the leadership of Jane, was spot on.

I can recommend this restaurant unreservedly!

Food was fantastic. Staff were very friendly without being "in your face". Felt like a family-run business but standard of food was excellent
