We decided to go to the Canny Man for a nice quiet pint. It is just a few minutes from our front door and we like to support local pubs in our area. Unfortunately we were met with an unsavoury and very backwards attitude, one not fit for today's society. The staff at the bar were professional and asked for our ID, which was provided without issue and we received our pints. While about to go look for a seat a woman approached us and demanded our ID again. She had been watching us while we were at the bar. Upon explination that we had just had our ID checked she informed us she was the manager and demanded our ID. We gave her our ID and she looked at it, returned it then stormed off. No other person in the pub received such treatment. We felt judged for being students and not being so well dressed as others and it showed in the attitude of the manager and some of the clients. Pub's need to be inclusive of all people and I strongly abhor establishments that are classist and judge people based on their appearance. At the end of the day we did not act inappropriately nor did we say anything offensive. We were perfectly amicable and just wanted a nice relaxing time at our local. Won't be returning.
