The effort that goes into every dish makes this place something special. These 2 chefs are extremely dedicated to the culinary arts. Worth the 3 month wait. We will come back!

The Table is a small restaurant which takes 10 guests for dinner. The menu is determined based on seasonal ingredients. No choices are available and you get what is on that evening. Diners sit at a stone table right beside the kitchen and there is a lot of interaction with the two brothers who are in the kitchen. It is BYOB. The interaction element really adds to the experience as does the very eclectic music played. The food was outstanding as every one of the seven courses was delicious. It is definitely one of, if not the best restaurants in Edinburgh. It is refreshing to be part of the journey and watch the preparation and plating and hear the description of ingredients from the Chef. Another great touch is the small to go goodie bag which includes the evening’s menu. Given its limited seating it is a difficult place to get into, particularly at weekends, but it is certainly worth the effort - you won’t be disappointed.

Visited the restaurant whilst on our mini moon in Edinburgh, two close friends brought it us as part of our wedding present. The set up and idea are brilliant, 10 seats all at the chefs table where you get to watch the head chef and his assistant prepare the food and talk you through the courses. Loved the setting and, although the restaurant is small (which we were obviously expecting), it was comfortable and nicely decorated. You have to take your own alcohol as the there is no licence but this worked perfectly for us as we were able to enjoy some of our favourite wines although I do normally opt for the wine accompaniment when having a tasting menu. The food was incredible in the most part but there were a few things that let it down and, due to the up close and personal nature of the restaurant, it really didn’t feel like you were able to raise concerns.

The good!!!
The canapés, starter, deserts and sweets were all superb. Ingredients that we’d not tried before cooked to perfection.

The not so good :(
The fish course which was a hot dish was cold and the main course pork which was a new invention was really dry and was made drier by the granola topping and very little jus.

I am 100% sure this was more an unlucky visit as opposed to bad quality cooking but obviously had an impact on our enjoyment.

Saying all that I would recommend you to try out this unique restaurant.

This was our second time at the table and it was as exceptional as the first. The atmosphere is relaxed, the chefs are welcoming and talented, and the food really is something special! We were given this experience as wedding gift and what a lovely treat it was. You’re doing an amazing job, and we are both very grateful for the time and energy you gave, and imagine you give each night of the week. Thankyou!

Ok,ok, ok

what to say..... Food 7 out of 5; other stuff 3.5 out of .5 - making a 5 overall

A very different high-class dining experience

this is a ten seat restaurant, all guests sit at the bar, its a 7 course set meal, you see all the cooking and prep in front of you, there is no licence and so its BYOB

Good:

outstanding quality of cooking and creation by Sean!!
good atmosphere in general, camaraderie etc

Less Good:
we were in seats 9 & 10, so we couldnt really see the cooking and I had a cricked neck from having to constantly look left to my Mrs and in to the restau or / and straight ahead is the coffee machine, hmmm
(we didnt mind) you need to like loud pop music from the 60s & 70s
the long hair and beard of the #2

Now you know - the food justifies everything
