The statue of poet Robert Fergusson is placed, poised outside Canongate Churchyard. The statue is seen 'walking' down Canongate, clutching a book to his chest, coat tails flapping, perpetually in motion. It is not a must visit but a great photo op if visiting. Robert Fergusson was in fact buried in Canongate Churchyard.

I was so alone in the city when I found this young man! He didn't even say a word but he makes me so much company for a while!

Well-sculpted, along the street, in front on a very old church and cemetery, plus some poetry, all for free. Pleasant, but don't go out of your way.

Steer sculpture glorifies those who have achieved some greatness and contributes to the built environment. It also helps to educate. I saw this statue in front of the Canongate Church and learned that Robert Ferguson was a famous Scottish poet and he is in fact buried in the Canongate Churchyard.

My wife and I happened upon this state on our trek up and down the Royal Mile. There is a plaque giving information on Robert Fergusson. We were happy to see the plaque as we were unfamiliar with him.
