Friendly, good-hearted staff creatively accommodated our big group well, and went above and beyond for the vegans and vegetarians in our crowd. Great food, great service.

“Avoid”
Reviewed 7 December 2013 via mobile

Went here for a treat to my other half and pre ordered a kismot killer for him, as he loves spicy currys, this when it came out looked ok but as soon as he took his first mouthful he was so disappointed, not cos was spicy but tasted sickly, we were so disappointed after looking forward to this, mine wasn't much better. The waiter was quite annoying to say the least, I don't care who cooks my food as long as it's good and this definitely wasn't, glad to see some reviews of the same response. Safe to say he didn't finish it because it tasted so bad. After a disappointing meal (still feel quesy thinking about it) got a very large bill. In my opinion do not go here, it's a cheap nasty looking place and more for students and drunk people and not for those looking for a nice night out. Thanks for reading my experience.

“Another Amazing Meal”
Reviewed 7 December 2013

This was my second time back to Kismot, and I was not disappointed. Although we had to wait a few minutes for our table (the restaurant was exceptionally busy) we were soon seated and glasses brought for our BYOB drinks. The food was delicicous, our party of 3 ordered three different mains, with rice and starters to share and everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were so helpful and friendly even though they were under huge pressure. I will soon be back to eat and always recommend Kismot to people who are visiting Edinburgh.

Hello!

Great review, many thanks!

It is lovely to see that you enjoyed your evening, and we are very grateful for the fact that you acknowledged the restaurant was extremely busy! It can get very stressful for all staff- front and back.

Thanks again and we do hope to see you back

“Best Indian food in Edinburgh”
Reviewed 7 December 2013 via mobile

This is an absolutely great place. It is managed and owned by a family and they take care. My recommendation is: share the naan bread it is huge and don't mess with the chillies. If those guys say it is spicy, its spicy :-)

Hey

Thank you for such a lovely review, the entire family loves to read positive comments like yours.

Glad you noticed we are family run, with mum and dad cooking hopefully authentic Indian dishes!

“Good fun, but don't expect the best curry...”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

Came out with a large group of colleagues for dinner the night before a meeting, and had a great time. The Kismot Killer food-as-a-dare concept (and product line), along with haggis nan and bring-your-own chocolate nan, should signal to anyone you are not about to have a subtle dining experience, so I'm not sure why anyone would expect to find the best curry here. That's not the point. If you want a night of good fun, with a enjoyably snarky staff who serve their signature volatile dish while wearing a gas mask, a menu that appreciates the fact that you are in Scotland, and a perfectly good curry, then this place if for you.
