Before we entered the door we could smell good food. Modern decor, good choice on the menu including Mum and Dads specials. We enjoyed everything we ate - the Nan breads are wonderful. You bring your own alcohol and can take away anything y cannot eat on at the time so no waste. They were happy to provide a chocolate chapatti for a member of our party who could not be with us. We will be back

Visited Kismot with a mate while on business in Edinburgh. Had been there with my wife once before and found it super on that occasion. This time was also a very good experience, but not quite as impressive for a few reasons. First - the service was not as brilliant as last time. We ate on a Wed night after 9pm and it was very quiet - only 3 other tables dining, but the waiter took a while to come and take our order. The charming "wee laddie" (owner's son) was not there and I think his personality seems to be an important part of the warm welcome we got last time and that other reviewers have mentioned. This time, while friendly, the young waiter and waitress were not quite as exuberant! Second, the food was not as great as I remembered last time - perhaps we ordered the wrong dish in hindsight - we ordered one of the house specials, a curry where the chicken is on the bone - just doesn't work for me! The other dish was very nice. Portion sizes are generous, we shared one starter, had two mains, one naan bread and one rice to share and it was plenty. The BYO beer option is a nice bonus - helps keep the price very reasonable. Overall, still a great curry house, a great concept of simple, home-cooked food, family-run restaurant. But staying at the top is sometimes harder than getting there (ask David Moyes) - I do hope Kismot can stay at the top!

After having a great meal the last time we visited we were very disappointed by the poor service and the long wait to be served and then a wait of nearly an hour for our main meal.

Hello there

So sorry you waited so long for your meals, customer service is key and we feel very let down with ourselves when our customers leave feeling disappointed.

If you decide to visit again in future hopefully we can show you a different evening.

Been to Kismot before and was a little disappointed this time. The service was quite slow even though the restaurant was not overly busy however the staff were nice and helpful.
The food was tasty, naan breads were all really nice and the curries were all nicely spicy without being overpowering.
We did enjoy our meal and will probably go back however it was just not as good as our last trip
