I've been to Antonio's or its predecessors several times over the years and have never been all that impressed. Nothing ever wrong or bad but just so ordinary. However we went for lunch on Saturday and it is the first time I have come away from the place feeling highly satisfied.
They are now doing 2 course lunches for £8 and 3 courses for £10 and going by our recent experience, this is tremendous value for quality food. Garlic mushrooms are ubiquitous, but here they are a cut above and the pate and toast starter was also very good. We both had the creamy/mustardy chicken stoganoff with rice for main course then crepes and meringue for dessert.
Apart from the crepe tasting a bit stale, everything else was lovely. I can see us going back sooner rather than later.
