After driving up through the lake district we wanted to stop off somewhere for the night on the way home. Large car park, pleasant receptionist who checked us in efficiently. Great price and £10 for 3 course dinner. Fabulous food and service. Room large and nice big window. comfy bed and bath/shower. Breakfast great, outside area to sit and separate area for smokers. Could not fault, would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Eat in the restaurant, great quality at a great price.

Booked 2 rooms for 4 people for 4 nights during the Commonwealth Games. Ideal base if, like us, some of the party had never been to either of the major cities. Approx 20 mins to each by train, very reliable & inexpensive cabs to the stations (although not a long walk at all) & very friendly.
Like most B W's, the rooms are a little dated & would appreciate tlc, but having said that our (double) room was spacious. You get what you pay for & £100 per night per room (2 people) including an excellent breakfast seemed good value to us.
If visiting the area again, we would be very happy to stay there.

Room Tip: Try the haddock & haggis for breakfast (maybe not together !!)

We stayed at this hotel during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games because it was the closest to Glasgow we could find at a reasonable price. It is only a short drive/20 min walk from the main station which has an excellent service to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Perhaps we were unlucky that our room was small and very stuffy because the weather was unseasonably warm! . The hotel did provide a fan which helped.
The staff were all friendly and the food was also good .
Overall, reasonable value for the price we paid.
