“Too good to hideaway...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

Firstly, please note that The Hideaway has only recently reopened under new ownership and reviews prior to 2012 do not relate to the current owners and detract from the true average rating.

My wife and I were pleased to see The Hideaway open again. We have enjoyed meals there a few years ago but it changed hands and went down hill badly. Unsurprisingly it closed and was boarded up for some time.

The new owners clearly know what they are doing and have turned the place around again. The new décor makes it much brighter and the addition of two wood burning stoves create a very cosy atmosphere. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and look forward to many repeat visits.

10 of us have just been for lunch today and everyone one had a great meal. All plates empty from starter to desserts to die for. My relatives that are up visitng from Engling were extremely impressed with the friendly welcome we received from all members of staff as they made us very relaxed from the minute we walked in the door. They even gave us all an easter egg before we ordered our meal. We will certainly be back and so will our relatives on there next visit.

Myself and my husband went to the Hideaway tonight because of the recent reviews. We both had the steak pie after the comments. Unfortunately, there was only a small amount of steak and hardly any pastry. Really disappointing given the cost of £10.25!

We could not fault the service; it was flawless. Efficient and extremely welcoming. However, we will not be returning as it was poor value for money. It really is a shame as we used to love the Hideaway and thought it was back to former standards.

Really nice place and really nice atmosphere, great service but what stood out for us more than anything was the quality of the food. We both had three courses and every one was very very good, for me the steak pie was one of the best I've ever eaten, and in this day and age when everyone is tryin to save money the prices were extremely fair, so all round a brilliant experience with brilliant food at a brilliant price, try it now :-)

Just visited the hideaway, after hearing a good review from a friend. We were really impressed! Everything is home made and to a high standard. I would recommend the steak pie, soup is also very good! This is a relaxing place with Very friendly service, really hope this place does well as there's not a lot of good places to eat in Dunfermline, Don't be disheartened by the first review not sure where those people are used to eating if they think it is over priced!! will defiantly be back! X

We visited the newly-refurbished Hideaway in Dunfermline today and I have to say that everything about this restaurant is fantastic. We were immediately greeted by the owners who introduced themselves and gave us a warm welcome, the staff were friendly and polite and the food was absolutely superb (I'd highly recommend trying their homemade burgers if you're popping in for lunch!).

It's great to have a new family-run restaurant in Dunfermline as lately we seem to have been overrun by chains. If you're looking for a warm, friendly restaurant with fantastic home cooking, give the Hideaway a try!

As the restaurant only re-opened recently I had a bit of a problem tracking down the phone number, so to save you any hassle here it is - 01383 249533.

We had lunch today. What a difference, immaculate decor, outstanding food and a warm welcome. Excellent staff, impressed with owner. No TV's blaring out, no one arm bandits. The place to go. Well worth a visit. We will be back.
