situated minutes from Dullach leisure park and a little futher from Dumferline town centre this truly is a hidden gem. There is ample parking at this former miners institute and a warm welcome from new enthusiastic professional owners. There is a cosy atmosphere and a full menu thoughout the day/evening with a reliance on local fresh produce and home cooking.I would especially recommend the home made cheesecake. The restuarent is situated within sight of the busy M 90 yet it is betow the level of the motorway so there is no noise nuisance. There are commanding views south over the forth estuary towards both bridges.
There is a level crossing between halbeath and kingseat on the fife commuter loop

Room Tip: choose a table away from the door

First try of the Hideaway for a high-tea and we will definitely come back again. All the staff very friendly, very nice bar area and good food. Lovely selecton of cakes as well. Nice to have a place in Dunfermline to go for a good high-tea.

Good food and great service. Nice touch offering all mothers a box of chocolates after meal. Food was presented quickly and staff very friendly. Highly recommended for a low cost pub lunch.

Took my mum here for mothers day lunch after reading some good reviews and wanted to try somewhere different. Its safe to say, we wont be back. I had reserved a table a week in advance yet was sat in the bar area right next to the door? the restuarant was freezing and the majority of the people in there were sitting having meals with their jackets on- not what you want when your out for your lunch. My meal was okay however my mum said her mash was awful and the rest was so-so. Pretty dissapointing taking my mum out for what was supposed to be a nice cosey lunch, money NOT well spent. The restuarant itself could certainly do with a face lift. Very strange decor- dull, dingy and nothing matched. The menu itself looked like something you would see in a scabby cafe. Won't be back.

Been to the hideaway a few times now, service is always very good, the place is warm and inviting, dining furniture is a mix match, but suits my taste!
Food is excellent and it's clear things are fresh and home made, Cullen skink is a must have!

Excellent meal. Went with no expectations just thought we would give it a try. Nice cosy atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. The dinner menu choice was not large but what we had was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely go back.

We loved the Hideaway! The food was delicious, my sister had the fish pie, stuffed full of fish, huge chunks of salmon ,so recommended! We also ordered scampi and lasagne, everything is cooked to order and homemade and you could tell by the taste! My stepdad had the large yorkshire pudding, which came with succulent pieces of beef and a mushroom and red wine sauce! It was fantastic!
The handcut chips and side veg were also so good!
The service was great and they were very attentive.
I have already recommended it to the Mum's in the playground this afternoon. A couple of mum's said they used to go years ago. I told them about the new owners and how good the food was!
We shared a sticky toffee pudding, which was as good as i've ever had!
We will be back!!!
