My husband and I stayed at the Davaar House on our way back from a trip to North Uist in the Western Isles. We live in Yorkshire so we decided to break up the return journey by a stop over in Dunfermline to visit the In-Laws.

We booked the Davaar at the last minute via Late Rooms and got a Superior Double for £74.

The room was comfortable and clean. Personally, I found the room too hot and had to turn down the heating but that is a preference thing, rather than a fault of the hotel.

The bed was large and very comfy and the room was perfect for our needs.

Easy walking distance from Town and the beautiful Pittencrieff Park. Dunfermline is a key town in Scotland's history as an ancient capital and seat of various Monarchs before Edinburgh took over. Lots of historic buildings including the Abbey.

Jim and Doreen were perfect hosts and were kind enough to store our bikes for us overnight. Nothing was too much trouble and breakfast was amazing.

Only gripe was that the new carpet in the bedroom meant that the bathroom door dragged loudly over it. No problem during the day but meant hubby got a disturbed night's sleep as I went to the bathroom during the night. I mentioned this to Doreen in the morning and she was going to ask Jim to look at it, so no real issue there.

Would definitely consider a return visit.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in March 2013. It is pleasantly situated in a quiet residential street within easy walking distance of the town centre, abbey etc. We were given a beautiful big room, generously furnished and spotlessy clean as was the en-suite facilities.Jim the proprietor was a wonderful host and went out of his way more than once to give us every assistance. We were there on a bed and breakfast arrangement only. The food was of excellent quality, perfectly prepared and plenty of it. We would have no hesitation in recommending Davaar House to anyone looking for an enjoyable visit to Dunfermline.

No complaints whatsoever about this very nice family run hotel. Very welcoming host. Nice warm room. Very clean and tidy. Excellent comfy bed. We both slept very well.
Well cooked fresh breakfast. All in all really enjoyed ourselves.
A wee bit of a walk( 20- 25 minutes) from town centre

Small but perfectly formed hotel. Owners very accommodating and helpful, rooms very spacious and clean, room rates VERY reasonable ! 10 minute walk to town centre with bars and restaurants. Free WiFi can be a bit patchy in certain rooms, but the owners told me the better areas for reception.

Room Tip: Wifi can be a bit "patchy" in places, so ask if this is a requirement.
