We stayed here the night before a flight out of Edinburgh Airport. The room was large and had a lot of windows. Breakfast was excellent with good choices. The town is interesting and we visited the Carnegie Museum, which is free, and walked around the historic area.

Wonderful hospitality from the owners which presents such a contrast to the big hotel chains.

Car parking is easy and secure. The hotel is a beautiful old building; the rooms are comfortable and breakfast freshly cooked to order. The hotel also serves evening meals to residents and these are absolutely top-class, home cooking.

My outstanding memory of the hotel is the friendliness of the owners; absolutely nothing is too much trouble. It was a pleasure to stay there and I wouldn't look for anywhere else in this part of Scotland.

Lovely old fashioned hotel with old fashioned values. We turned up very upset due to family circumstances and the host was so lovely and understanding, he offered his help in any way and his kindness was touching.
Hotel was very clean and breakfast was home cooked to your order. If your going to Carnegie Hall it's a 15 mins walk.

I spent 8 nights here and I felt very pleasant in this privately run hotel (in a quiet area, a short walk from town), my room was cosy and clean. Breakfasts were excellent every day. Doreen and Jim are really wonderful and hospitable hosts. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

Stayed in the Daavar for the first time on a short business trip. Found the hosts to be very welcoming and the food to be excellent. Basic but very good ingredients cooked with care.

The hotel interior is very clean and spacious with a slight 70's feel in style, particularly in the bar/lounge area, but for once this just added to the charm as it is very tasteful and in no way 'tatty' like many of these places can be. The small bar does not have tap beer but there are plenty of good quality bottled beers on offer.

Would definitely recommend the Daavar for short stays and business use.

This is the fourth hotel we have stayed in Dunfermline, when we have been going to Knockhill, the Scottish Racing Circuit. Previous hotel's have disappointed us, our main complaint has been noise, particularly from wedding parties, value for money being poor, especially regarding the standard of meals versus prices charged, and lack of parking as Hotels with function rooms seem to forget residents need parking too.
No such problems at The Davaar House Hotel, from the ample parking, on arrival ( later than planned) we were personally greeted, and shown to our room which was very clean and comfortable. We ate dinner which was perfectly cooked to order, and tasted lovely. You could tell from this meal, and the breakfast quality ingredients were used. As Jim was away Doreen was managing assisted by a lovely lady who served, they took time to talk to us and made us so welcome. My husband who is vegetarian was catered for without a fuss, an imaginative and tasty dish rather than microwaved veggie lasagne he is usually offered. We slept well as the hotel was lovely and quiet, (no noisy guests or wedding guests slamming doors when they return to their rooms! ).
For standard of service, food and accommodation, good nights sleep for us = value or money.

Two nights in Dunfermline made perfect by mine hosts Jim and Dorren. Food was a delight and our room overlooking the front of the hotel was ideal.Nothing was too much trouble and they even found time to provide local maps and advise on places to see.We will be back .
