Booked this hotel at the same time as coach load of German visitors - hope that the did not think this the best of Scottish hospitality! Service was very slow, buffet breakfast had been eaten up before I got there, toast was really burnt, sullen staff, very faded accommodation, best not go there

Stayed here for the marathon at the weekend, looked at the website prior to booking on late rooms and it looked ok.
Unfortunately the hotel / rooms on the website don't agree to the state of the actual hotel, the rooms are old and not particularly clean, (there were hairs in the bathroom on arrival).

We requested 2 double rooms non-smoking, but ended up with 1 non-smoking room and 1 smoking room as they ran out of rooms - if they cannot provide the rooms then they shouldn't have accepted.

The second farce was last weekend happened to be the hottest weekend of the year to date and in comical fashion their heating was stuck on for the whole weekend!! Apparently they turned the bolier off but to no avail...

The manager came to our room had a look and said she would return in 5-10 mins, which she didn't. Find it hard to believe a hotel cannot manage to control its heating, which was unbearable. The thermostats in the rooms were broken so the radiators could not be turned down, the managers response was they are broke because people keep breaking them!! Do they not have maintenance!!

Poor, shabbly and not worth the money - my advice would be the go elsewhere.

The king malcolm hotel situated on the outskirts of Dunfermline was a disapointment when first sighted from the main road it looked like a cross between grey portakabins and a Happy Eater.
They've made an attempt to smarten the reception and eating area but the rooms are sub-standard, old and shabby, not at all what you'd expect for £105 a night. That much does not even get you breakfast. £11 for full 'Scottish', £8.50 for 'continental' just didn't seem like good value as the night before we'd stayed in the Marroitt Glasgow for the same price, it was very smart and modern and breakfast was all you could eat inclusive.

On the plus side it was quiet, not many guests and some of the staff were friendly and helpful. That's about it, we'll not be going back.

We have just returned from a 4 day Christmas stay at this hotel. The staff are very friendly and courteous. Hotel very clean and very clean bedroom and bathroom. The rooms have trouser press, tea and coffee (which is replaced every day), iron and ironing board, hairdrier, television, very comfortable beds. The room is very warm. Bathrooms are quite a good size, with very powerful showers over the bath. Also a retractable clothesline. The food was excellent, plenty of it and piping hot. Nothing was to much of a bother. The only complaint we had was too much food, you never had time to be hungry.
