Gerry McMullan, Tour Director, is an amazing and extremely knowledgeable tour guide. He was wonderful to work with and knows his way around. He was able to get us into the right spots for an up close and personal view of the areas we had requested seeing. He made suggestions on what we should see while we were in the area and all was received very well by the four of us in his vehicle. In addition he took photos with our cameras as well as his own....said he would email those photos to us at no extra charge! There were no surprises or add-ons at the end of the tour and we were back at the appointed time with room to spare.

Our tour was primarily of St. Andrews and Edinburgh in Scotland in late July.

I would highly recommend Gerry @ Carnegie Tours for anyone looking for a first class tour at a very fair price.

Thank you Gerry....hope to see you in the future!

Our experience with Carnegie Touring was excellent. Gerry is a scholar in Scotland's history and will enlighten you on the history behind all the sites you visit. Gerry is a super nice gentleman and we thoroughly enjoyed our several hour tour to numerous sites- he will answer your questions and his knowledge in history is outstanding. We highly recommend Carnegie Touring and Gerry.

We came to Scotland to join a bus tour, but prior to that we wanted to spend some time in St. Andrews on our own. Carnegie touring was suggested by our Bed and Breakfast owners. It was the best suggestion we could have taken. Gerry McMullen was our guide for a full day and also two half days. We were shown the countryside, taken to the "Old Course" at St. Andrews, and had a stroll through town - stopping for scones. The next day we were taken to the Edradauer distillery, drove through the areas where the mini series "Outlander" was filmed, visited the Gleneagles golf course, had a picnic lunch beside the River Tay, saw Queens View and Dunkeld Cathedral, all the while being steeped in the history of the country and it's future. We were Americans being treated like Royalty. We would highly recommend this personalized touring.

We took Gerry's tour because we had a very short time in Scotland and wanted to see as much as possible. We also had our mother-in-law with us, who needed to save her walking energy for when we arrived at sites. Gerry custom designed the tour with our needs and interests in mind. He took us where we wanted to go and as close to the castles and sites as possible, so that my mother-in-law could see as much as possible. He fit in extra time and sites for us after hours and gave us many interesting facts and stories along the way. He is a lovely friendly and knowledgeable guy. I think it would take a couple of tours to get to do what we did in one day with Carnegie tours.

If you choose to enhance your trip with the greatness of Gerry McMullen - you will get far more than you'll ever pay for. Rich in historical knowledge, wealthy in his kind heart, and genuine to his core - Gerry McMullen will surpass any expectations that you might have had and then exceed the ones you never knew you did. This story.. is one worth the read for anyone searching for simply the Best Scottish Touring Experience Ever..

My husband and I were on a cruise in September 2013 celebrating our honeymoon. We had saved for this cruise for the better part of 8 months so once paid, our excursions were limited - the "plan" was to adventure outside of the standard excursion and find our way to the Edinburgh Castle and visit the Royal Mile; adventure and non-standard were the two things we were blessed to have found. As we debarked the tendering boat we came through a gate and stopped to take a few pictures of the beautiful scenery that we were being enveloped in. We took a step back to breathe it all in and see what our next move would be. As we did, we were within close proximity of a very warm and gentle man, and by his tartan patterned slacks, was Scottish as the day was long. We decided to approach him to ask him a few questions about Edinburgh and the best ways to navigate on our own. Gerry McMullen was his name and he actually ran his own touring company. Now we were in no position to be signing up for the touring that Gerry was offering but we were very appreciative of his helpful advice - in fact we had a great chat with him telling him we were celebrating our honeymoon and he gave us some great "free" history on the area. As we meandered along the road.. in the opposite direction in which Gerry suggested, we saw Gerry again. This time, he was parked on the side of the road. We struck up great conversation again about the history of the town and actually got lost a bit in how much time we spent chatting - he is just that fun to talk to and great to learn from. His sweet personality and witty sense of humor had us taken from our first meet at the docks. At the end of our chat he turned to us and with the deepest sincerity said, "I'd like to give you a free tour as your honeymoon present." My husband and I were floored (aka stunned) by his generous and gracious offer. To put it simply, just touched. Here's this random stranger, who knew us for a brief moment, with nothing to gain but appreciation and watching a newlywed couple in love enjoy the foreign sights that was as familiar to him as his own front yard - offering us this amazing gift was the most altruistic act of kindness and one that will never be forgotten. It truly made all the difference in our Edinburgh experience. As we loaded into his divinely detailed car, Gerry was in the boot of his car gathering wine glasses in order to pour us celebratory glasses of chilled Pino Grigio - something you might find in a Danielle Steele novel but never think would happen to you. As he drove us to the Edinburgh Castle, he continued to fill us with the history of the areas we were driving through, the background of ancient old battles, (most famously known for the movie "Brave Heart") and the little hidden local truths behind the "Hollywoodized" manufacturings of his deep rooted culture - things you would never possibly learn on a random tour with some local "get-rich-quick-off-tourists" kind of tour. He was as informative as any passionate historian would be - to the point where when we passed the largest brewery in Edinburgh, he rolled down the windows to let us take in the smell of pungent "hops" that wafted in the brisk air at the very moment we breezed by. Gerry took us by places that we would've never had the sweet opportunity to see otherwise - his goal - to offer an experience that we wouldn't forget.. and that's exactly what he delivered - a supreme adventure that will live in our "memory-archives" for the rest of our lives. Once we arrived at the castle, we asked if he minded if we parted ways so that we could explore - he graciously agreed and even more, gave us directions to the train station, where to get off and what time we should be there in order to get back to the boat on time - a man of true grace. Gerry, if you have the opportunity to read this - I hope that you are now acutely aware of the monumental difference you made to our honeymoon experience and know that you have left us longing for more - we hope to cross your path again someday - and if we don't, we really hope that someone reading this decides to choose you as their Edinburgh wing-man - we will only ever travel Edinburgh with you. Thank you from the bottom of hearts - you are a rare Scottish gem and we are so blessed to have met you.
