Had a meal here for my sisters 21st. We had a table of 12 in the conservatory, no starters which made main course slow which was understandable. We had a big table and were a little bit rowdy but the staff were very polite and helpfull. When the food came out, one dish went back because of underdone pork, but was re-done and taken off the bill. The rest off the food was tasty, comfort food with good portion size. Steaks had a good chargrill flavour and were cooked as ordered. Had a good night.

As a last minute booking I booked this hotel for my partner and I, it was a great price and we only live in edinburgh so not far to travel for a random night away.
We arrived around 6pm and were welcomed to the hotel with the front door opened for us and everything was polite and friendly.
Our deluxe room was lovely and perfect for what we wanted.
We got a table for dinner and it even though it was very quiet the staff were not standing around chatting or doing nothing which is something we personally can't stand! Great start!
The waitress was friendly and made conversation with us which is great as I'm a very chatty person! When we question about the wedding packages they had, she was more helpful than we could have asked for. Even though we aren't engaged yet we were curious as the garden area looked lovely and wondered how it would go about. She found us their information packs and asked if we would like to speak to the woman who knows all about it! Once again even though we are not engaged we decided to do this. (Make the most of the chance!)
The food was fab, quick and well presented! I chose the steak pie! It was very good! I am a chip lover and normally would eat the chips first but the pie was too good to leave til last. Massive portions of food. Not slightly small or expensive as I have read In previous reviews.
After dinner we met the woman who knew the wedding packages and she was brilliant. Showed us every part of the package and rooms, including the honeymoon suit! Lovely!
The staff are so friendly and helpful, we would defiantly come here again and it may be a wedding venue when we decide its time to get married! 10/10

Room Tip: Deluxe room! Worth the money!

I'm a frequent visitor to Dunfermline and I stay at the "Pit" quite a lot. Given the choice of hotels in the area that's a message in itself. Its not the most modern, but it is very reasonably priced, does a lovely breakfast in the mornings and has an excellent restaurant. Its warm (especially important at this time of year!) and the staff are friendly and helpful. Free wifi is good too (something bigger hotel chains shoudl learn from!)

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing

Stayed here for one night and was left disappointed .
The room was average & we found there was no kettle with the hospitality tray.
A phone call sorted that.
Could not use the bath as the mechanism for closing it was broken.
Had breakfast before we left well that was another thing.
I have eaten there before & found it to be all right.
It was like the breakfast had been cooked good time before being served not for me.
Disappointed yes that is all i can say.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on business with my wife and 2 dogs. They welcomed us all warmly and we had a excellent "deluxe" room on the ground floor which had plenty of room to put our dog crate and was well furnished and had everything you required for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was delicious and had plenty of choice for the "continental" or "full scottish" options. The grounds were great for taking the dogs out for a wee wander and the gardens were well kept and provided lots of interesting smells to keep the dogs happy!

Overall, the service was first class and the staff were really welcoming and we would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room 243 was a great size!

We stayed here on the 30th and 31st of December 2012 for the New Year Party. We would definitely return. Rooms are very clean and very comfortable ensuring a good nights sleep. It is a family run business and it shows. The management are concientious and the staff, although of a young age, were found to be quite efficient and polite. Sam, the owner, claims Fawlty Towers was based around him. I'm sure he means the humorous side of him and not the standards of the hotel. With the right customer he has a good line of friendly banter. A lot of time and money has been spent on the building and the training of staff so it deserves to be successful. We are regular world-wide travellers and have a lot of experience of hotel accommodation - we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this fine establishment. Didn't use the swimming pool or spa so can't make comment.
