My family and I (6 and dog) stayed overnight.
Very friendly staff, who welcomed us all, kids and dog included.
Good value, good pub style food, clean, comfy beds (biggest double I've ever seen!).
Down sides?
Kids twin room was very noisy with the window open as it was above the kitchen vents, but boiling hot with the window closed.
Although the gardens were very pretty, the website led me to believe the site would be bigger so the dog could run round a bit. Yes, there's a bit of grass, and the dog is very obedient so I let her off, but also nowhere nearby to walk. Hmm. Tricky.
Location of hotel is terrible. Easy to find but not attractive surroundings.

Had a meal here today in Harvey's Bistro. Service was great, however felt the food was seriously overpriced for what we received. I ordered the butterfly chicken which was £10+ and was exactly the same chicken (slightly larger portion, granted) as the breaded chicken escalope my grand-daughter received from the kids menu priced at £2.95! Be careful what you order is looking for value for money!

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your comments about your visit to Harvey Bistro, I am pleased to hear that the service was “great”.
We have recently launched a new healthier menu for the children. With breaded chicken fillets, penne pasta with chicken and mushrooms, sausage and mash and haddock goujons etc.
We realise that dining out for the family is a costly affair and currently have the children’s menu prices heavily subsidised, to encourage families and in some way, lighten the load.
We do hope that we can look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Hubby and myself stayed overnight in this lovely hotel and stayed in the honeymoon suite. It was absolutely lovely.A king size four poster bed and modern bathroom with a jacuzzi bath.Room was tastefully decorated, nice clean thick carpets, tea and coffee making facilities, trouser press, iron and board, flat screen tv,safe and mini stereo. Some toiletries in bathroom,a wall hairdryer and lovely soft white towels. The honeymoon suite is in a quiet spot in the hotel,we didnt hear any noise at all and we slept very well, such a comfy bed.All staff were very polite and helpful. We had a drink in both bars and had a wonderful cooked breakfast in the morning.I would definitely stay here again.

In a hotel of this calibre you expect good service. This was not the case this evening. On leaving (as we got fed up waiting for someone to clear our table and ask if we needed anything), we told the barman who took our bill. He gave a half-hearted apology and mumbled something about the place being busy. Well it must have been busy somewhere else, because the Bistro certainly wasn't.

One also ask to ask the question that why take our booking if they could not organise their tables.

The food was ok, but really just ordinary pub food, served in a more posher venue. You could get just the same meal at a local pub for much less.

Nice venue. But staff need more training - when main meal arrived after a long delay between starter, there was no apology for the wait we had had.

Don't think I would go back. Plenty of cheaper places in town, with better service, for the same meal.

Lovely hotel, would definitely stay again. Staff helpful and friendly. Easy trip by rail into Edinburgh from Inverkeithing 10 minutes away by car. Food very good, breakfast plentiful, lovely views from both rooms and restaurant areas.

Really enjoyed my 3 day stay at the Pitbauchlie House with my mad German Shepherd dog. The staff all made a fuss of her - even the manager when she tried to leap over the reception desk! My room was very nicely furnished & really clean with a nice view over the garden. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Would definitely stay there again.
