“Hmmm .... well fed”
Reviewed 6 May 2012

We came to the Garvock House Hotel for a Sunday lunch on the recommendation from a friend and we were NOT disappointed.
The welcome into the hotel was warm and friendly. Our 'waiter' had a good sense of humour ... when I asked if the smoked haddock was dyed, I was told that he sincerely hoped so because it was not alive! (Hee hee ...I do like a pun and the fish, when served, was superb, by the way!) This spontaneous 'off the cuff' remark had us all laughing.

The lunch menu was a mouth-watering choice of good Scottish fare .. nothing 'fancy' (as I recalll) ... and the food was so+so tasty.

I shall return ...... sometime soon, I hope, and I'll fight you for a table.

We recently spent two nights in this hotel at our friends daughters wedding,The wedding itself was fantastic, well organised and the staff ensured everything ran smoothly for the couple and guests. We have since already spent another overnight stay there due to the experience of our first stay and have booked yet another stay for our wedding anniversary in June.
I can't say enough good things about this hotel but i'll try anyway. The food is first class,i have had something different to eat on all occasions and it is food heaven. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is a problem for them. The rooms are excellent and hotel is in a nice setting.
I would confidently recommend this hotel to anybody and look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: front rooms favourable on second level

We had occasion to stay at the Hotel last month and found it excellent. The breakfast was beyond reproach and the supper on the Sunday night was unbeatable value and quality. We have told many people of our experience and even altough it is not far from where we live we will definitely be back.

My daughter arranged her wedding reception there.
The buffet ordered was for a wedding the buffet provided was for a funeral.
Which was probably appropriate as a large painting which had been improperly secured to the wall fell onto the heads of two young children leaving them traumatised.

Room Tip: Use another hotel for a wedding reception.

We stayed for one night at the Garvock House whilst up in Scotland visiting relatives. The hotel was very well maintained, the staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. We had a large room with all the facilities you'd require. When I noticed there wasn't any sachets of milk to make a cup of tea, the staff brought me up a fresh jug of milk instead of the UHT ones. We were also booked into the restaurant for dinner and had the best meal of our holiday here. The menu had plenty of choice and the quality of the food was fantastic. Service was brilliant and the breakfast choice the following morning was just as good. Garvock had all the small little touches that make a difference to a hotel stay and I would definitely stay here again.

The Garvock is set in it's own gardens and close to the town centre but very quiet. The rooms are large and very well maintained.

The breakfast is excellent with a menu for all tastes. The staff are very efficient, helpful and friendly.

The supper menu is great value and the food is to top quality. I will stay here again.

We visited the Garvock House Hotel for a funeral tea, and were very pleasantly surprised. There is great access for disabled guests and TWO disabled toilets on the ground floor - usually unheard of!!
The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are all very pleasant. We will definitely be back there for a bar lunch.
