Thank you so much for your lovely review - we really appreciate this. Glad that you had a great visit and enjoyed the hotel and the wedding.
We stayed here for our weekend away following a business trip and also for T in the Park. Bearing in mind that my boyfriend and I find it very difficult with work and other commitments to actually get to spend any quality time together we had booked a double room well in advance and had also contacted the hotel to confirm that the booking was still ok a few days before our trip. On arrival we were given a room with two single beds - absolutely not what we had booked and not a very romantic start to our weekend! To be fair the reception staff were absolutely lovely and very apologetic but we had little opportunity to sort out the situation as we were out early and back very late on the subsequent days. The next night we were given a deluxe room which was very nice. Once this was sorted our stay was much improved ! It is a shame the manageress was not quite so friendly when it came to sorting out our bill. Not good enough in my opinion and although the free upgrade was nice we didn't ask for it. Positives were that the staff were very friendly, chatty and also helpful when we needed directions to the bus and train stations. The breakfast was very nice (delicious pancakes and yummy eggs benedict) and the beds very comfortable. I would actually recommend this hotel despite the shaky start.
Thank you for leaving a review - we appreciate you doing that. I'm sorry that you didn't get the room you booked when you arrived. Thank you for recommending the hotel despite this - I hope that you'll come and stay again.
The proprietor met us at the door and welcomed us to his hotel. Frankly that just about sums up the experience of staying at Garvock House. Personal, attention to detail, welcoming, just a really pleasant experience. We were shown to our room, a few items explained, the option of dinner and open handed advice about restaurants in town. Some people are just very good at being hosts, not OTT, just really pleasant. The hotel itself is very comfortable. Lots of seating in the lounge, good dining room, ample parking. The room was large with a v comfy bed and excellent bathroom. Breakfast was large with plenty of variety and very tasty. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Truly first class experience. Plenty of parking and a short walk from the Abbey, town center etc.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we really appreciate your feedback. We're glad that you enjoyed your visit and hope that we can welcome you back again soon.
I cannot believe that it is over 2 years since I last came to the Garvock House Hotel for Sunday lunch and I am pleased to say that it is still a very good lunch.
We were warmly welcomed at Reception and immediately shown to the lounge to view the more than adequate menu by charming, young staff with prompt table service from the bar. Our lunch order was taken seamlessly before being escorted to a homely, comfortable dining room. Thank you to all.
After an acceptable wait our (obviously) freshly prepared lunch was served. We all agreed that the food was excellent ... cajun salmon fillet, chicken fillet 'Balmoral' and as for the battered haddock, so crisp and moist with chips chunky and crunchy, I am still drooling over it. My portion was fairly large so I didn't manage desert. Next time perhaps .. and there will be a next time ... it will not be 2+ years hence!
Maybe we were fortunate being 'early' for lunch today and therefore there was time for the service to be of a high standard ... but that is the norm that I remember at Garvock House. I must add that the bill for 4 folk having a superior (if not full menu), satisfying lunch, with drinks, was very good value !!
Please let the 'girners' stay away and leave room for me and mine.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review - so pleased that you all enjoyed your lunch and hope to see you again soon.
Our Daughter got married here Saturday 7th June 2014. The wedding was amazing greatly due to the Hotel and it's staff from the family meal the night before to our breakfast on the Sunday morning everything was perfect. The Hotel staff are so slick and professional and everything just flowed. We have had so many comments on how good the food was. It tasted and looked amazing. Could not fault a thing totally excellent
Thank you for your lovely review - so pleased that you all enjoyed the wedding. It was lovely to share your special day.
I reviewed this hotel in May 2013, and just having returned from a night there I thought I would write another. It is as good as I remember it, but the little niggles I felt last year are gone. The hotel smelled fresh, last year I commented it smelt a bit stale not this time. The service, food, and prices were as good as ever.
The hotel is still a real gem hidden away in centre of Dunfermline, and would be a good base to tour that part of Fife.
A room tip is get Room 24 if you can, it is larger than some of the other rooms, and is on a corner of the building.
Thank you writing an updated review and we're really pleased that you were happy with your visit. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel before too long.
