Description: A traditional country pub with a warm and welcoming open fire . Food is served from 4pm on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday and Sundays food available from 12pm - 7pm. Booking Essential Bookings highly recommended as The Plough has a small dining area and kitchen, and it can be very busy at times. Hours advertised are Food hours, however the Bar and Drinks are available at times outwith these hours. Drop in for a friendly pint!!

I haven't been to this pub for over 10 years but visited on Friday for evening meal & it was superb, great homemade food & good price, was made to feel really welcome & the service was first class, food is way above average & the homemade pate was excellent. I will certainly be returning soon & next time will stay longer & enjoy a drink afterwards in the bar. I will be recommending the Plough to all my friends & work colleagues.
Menu has traditional pub grub & al la carte foe something a wee bit different plus a childrens menu so something for everybody.

This place is a bit out off the beaten track to be classified as a Glenrothes restaurant, but it is worth the drive. Have to admit that in over forty years of living in Glenrothes, I had never set foot in Star of Markinch until I gave this place a try. It is that out of the way. It offers good quality pub/restaurant food with excellent beer to accompany it if you can persuade your other half to drive you home. A beacon of light in the hellish darkness that is eating out in the Glenrothes area. The menu changes on a regular basis. I can recommend the macaroni and cheese for those who don't care about their waistlines.but everything that I have had here has been good ie steak, fish and chips, venison sausage and mash. Starters aren't half bad either. Very pleasant lady runs the restaurant and service is attentive and pleasant.

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday for the first time yesterday, we found the menu to be comprehensive pub food with different dining options, soup and sandwitches to steaks etc. Prices were very reasonable
We shared a starter and had differing mains, food on both counts was very tasty and nicely presented, portion size was more than ample, so much so we unfortunately had to decline a sweet.
A special mention must go to the lady doing front of house, her sense of etiquette and good manners showed a professionalism that would not be out of place in five star hotels.
All in all a most enjoyable lunch, will most certainly return.

I have eaten in some pretty nice restaurant and have paid a small fortune for food that wasn't half as nice as the food you get from the Plough Inn. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff and owners are wonderful. A must stop off if your in Fife.
