“Not what we expected”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014 via mobile

Dunnikier Hotel has always had a reputation for being a bit posh, just for golfy types etc, so after moving to Dunnikier Estate last October, that's maybe why we'd put off going there until now.
Please note that we have never stayed in the hotel but have used the restaurant and bar facilities on several occasions now.
The bar is well stocked with one of my favourite lagers, Staropramen on tap. Prices were reasonable for a hotel.
The bar area is clean, large, comfortable and well maintained. Plenty of seating and tables. Kids and dogs welcome.
Plenty of choices of food on the menu with daily specials. We have eaten there twice over the past month and have absolutely no complaints.
The service is fantastic and friendly, but possibly could do with more staff behind the bar at busier times.
Certain areas including the toilets are a bit tired and old fashioned and are in dire need of refurbishment however.
The Dunnikier is not at all what we expected, but in a good way. So much so that it's now our local!

stayed for one night to visit family. The room had a lovely view but I'm afraid the room itself was in need of some TLC. One of the lights above the bed wasn't working nor was the shaver strip light in the bathroom. When we returned to the hotel that evening the room was freezing. There was no heating in the room or in the corridor. When we complained to reception a lovely girl came to the room with two fan heaters which we had to use to warm up the bedsheets. We were lucky as we found out the next morning that other guests also had no hot water. The breakfast was worth getting up for, well cooked and presented. To be fair, the receptionist reduced the bill without prompting from £70 to £60 for the inconvenience. Would I stay again? I doubt it!

I stayed for one night on business. The location is good and the building is in a very pleasant setting. The public rooms have a nice atmosphere and are well-maintained.

The staff were all extremely welcoming and the service was excellent and this made up a great deal for the accommodation which could be charitably described as 'threadbare'. I had a room in the attic area which was very cold. Amongst other problems were a shower screen that fell on top of me when I moved it: a cracked washbasin; a stained carpet; stained chairs and eccentric electrics/TV.

The breakfast was really very good and served by another very friendly lady.

Having moaned about the accommodation, it was not very expensive. If it were commercially possible to update the rooms this would be a great hotel.

Room Tip: Don't go in the attic!!

We held a family function at the Dunnikier yesterday and were very impressed with the service of the staff who were very flexible and friendly and happy to help. The Garden Room is gorgeous and everyone enjoyed the buffet. We will definitely use this hotel again.

Stayed here for one night after my son's wedding reception even though it is just a few miles from home. My wife and myself have been lucky enough to stay in 5 star hotels in many countries this is not a 5 star hotel and doesn't pretend to be but would give some of them a run for their money. All the staff made our night thank you

We have been here a few times recently for coffee and lunch a few times. The menu gives a wide range of options to suit most pallets. The atmosphere is great, very relaxed and the staff are very welcoming. Of particular note is Carol-ann excellent and very professional customer service skills and a warm welcome, with a particular attention to detail.

I'm writing this review from one of their rooms... Dated rooms , tv had no remote control. Freezing cold. The people in the room to the left and right kept banging into the early hours . Worst place iv ever stopped would of rather slept in my van if I had known.
