Fantastic home from home in the centre of Kirkcaldy. This was one of the best self-catering properties we've ever found, with owners who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after. Mark and Irene have thought of everything and were so available and approachable, Mark collected me from the station (I can't walk too far because of my health right now.) He was so welcoming, giving me a tour of the apartment on arrival to make sure I knew where everything was and how everything worked. There was milk and bread and juice and even fudge waiting for us! Plus no need to go out for tea/coffee/sugar/mayonnaise/cereal/margarine. A little of everything to get you started. The heating was on so the place was already cosy letting me relax straight away after a long journey. (Our last self catering experience was a key safe entry into a freezing house with the fun of trying to suss out the heating! This was SO much better!) Everything was clean and comfortable and we felt really spoiled. The whole place feels like a real treat. We ate out in the evenings but the kitchen is very well equipped.
Recommend the Lebanese restaurant, Fatma, right across the road and also the Duchess at the end of the high street.
There was a little noise on the Friday and Saturday night from the street but nothing disruptive, we used the back bedroom just in case but I don't think it would keep you awake either way. Most of the bars are further up the street. The pool table was a real bonus - one of the reasons we chose the apartment!
There are 38 steps up a spiral stairs to reach the flat, which is worth being aware of but certainly shouldn't put you off - gives the place real character! Nice history to the building too, lovely idea to share that with photos in the hallway. We met up with friends and one of their Mums used to work in the Green Cockatoo - the restaurant that used to be in the building!
All in all a perfect place to unwind together. Thank you so much Mark & Irene. As my husband said in the visitors book, the only negative was that we could only stay for the weekend!
Hello, I'm writing this on behalf of my family. I booked the apartment for them and they had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Everything was there for them; it is central and as a young family, they had everything they could possibly want. Thank you.
I highly recommend this apartment, the owners are so friendly, it's spotless, with comfy beds, a great shower, unbelievably thick carpets in the living room, a lovely feeling in the place (don't be put off by the shared hallway, which isn't very exciting) and they even us left wine and biscuits! There are gorgeous dressing gowns in the wardrobes, like a spa, truly thoughtful and luxurious thouches.
It's slightly noisy at the front of the apartment at night so they thoughtfully left ear plugs too. There's loads of local shops and places to eat (turn right out of the apartment for better shops) and Dysart harbour is nearby, well worth a visit.
We couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay and had a brilliant week.
This is the second time we have stayed in this apartment as a family and we will be back again.
Great size, perfect location, easy checkin / checkout, clean, and everything you need when booking a home away from home.
Will be booking for June very soon
From the time we arrived and met Irene we knew this was going to be special, The apartment was terrific and Irene had left supplies to get us up and going, No having to run to a shop. Everything about the apartment was great, The lighting , the comfort the thoughtfulness of Irene, Everything you could need was in the apartment from thread to a lovely box of chocolates. Will be staying here again on our next trip to Kirkcaldy.
Wow! Could sum up this beautiful apartment and tne thoughtfulness of its owners Irene and Mark. We booked the apartment to spend an early Christmas with family and to this end the apartment had been decorated with a beautiful Christmas tree, ornaments and lights. A new roasting tin had also been bought for the occasion. As we arrived so late in the day, Irene had also bought us bread and milk which was much appreciated! It was only after she'd gone we noticed the chocolates. The apartment is well furnished and the pool table was an added bonus! Irene was only a text away if we needed her but we didn't. We enjoyed it so much we've booked again for the same time next year.
