We were very lucky to book at very short notice, and what a find. We wouldn't hesitate to book again if we return to St Andrews, and highly recommend. Every positive comment on the site is endorsed. The only downside we were not there long enough.!!

Thank you for your great comments. We really enjoyed meeting you both and we're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope your granddaughter continues to do well with her golf and maybe you'll be able to visit us again.

On our recent trip to the UK, we arranged before leaving to do Sunday at the Open Championship. The extra few miles to St. Andrews (about two hours' drive from the Open venue at Muirfield) were a possibility, but only if time allowed. Fortunately, it did.

We booked the Little Carron Cottage through the internet the week before arriving and it turned out fantastic for us. The bedroom and en-suite bathroom are spacious, tastefully decorated and we slept like stones. The adjacent "sitting room" as other reviewers call it, is more a "living room." Plenty of comfy chairs, HDTV (to watch some of the Saturday round at the Open), fresh fruit and tea or coffee upon arriving, glass slider out to a private back garden with more seating, and just five minutes drive to the center of St. Andrews.

Your worthy proprietors Linda and Jim were very warm and accommodating. Linda made certain that everything we needed for the day and the following morning were in place before doing anything else. We actually had to leave at 5:00 AM in order to get in the queue at the Old Course to (hopefully) get one of the precious walk-up tee times (We made it out on the course at about 9:00 AM.) Seeing that breakfast was going to be on our own, Linda and Jim provided options for food and they made a special trip to town to pick up what was needed for us. Also, Jim has a serious case of the golf bug himself. He provided a great deal of interesting inside information on the Old Course and golf in general at St. Andrews.

Fantastic – for us much better than a five-star hotel...and just ₤85.

My husband and I stayed here last w/e for the 1st time. What a find! We stayed in the suite and it was sooooo comfortable. The best bed, spotless shower room and our own sitting room with feature fire surround, fridge, tea making facilities, tv, magazines etc and our own private patio. We could have breakfasted privately but opted to join the other guests to a superb start to the day. Couldn't have asked for more. Linda and Jim are so welcoming and a mine of local knowledge waiting to be tapped. The cottage and it's gardens are beautiful and so relaxing you don't want to leave.........

Our group of 3 couples stayed with Linda and Jim recently and we couldn't compliment them enough on the wonderful establishment they run. The rooms are spacious, you have your own lounge area, lovely bathrooms and the breakfasts are too die for.
Very, very good value for money, but the best part was Jim and Linda's ability to make us feel welcome and relaxed in their home. Thanks Jim and Linda, from the kiwis!

Room Tip: Every room was lovely.

Little Caron Cottage is a favourite of mine, and other members of my family. Linda & Jim are welcoming and the facilities are second to none. The cottage is located only a short drive from the heart of St Andrews, where there is no shortage of great places to eat out - The Grill House in St Mary's Place was our particular favourite!

I can't wait to visit again!
