“Central, Comfortable”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Only a short walk away from the centre, it is a pretty good base. Room was very small and, I thought, overpriced for a single bed with bathroom down the hall. However, St Andrews accommodation isn't cheap and the room was quiet, clean, warm and comfortable. You'd be lucky to find a parking spot outside so there is a 100 yard walk from the car parks, which will charge on days other than Sunday. There may be streets around, where free places could be found. Breakfast good and in a nice room.

I found the guest house relaxing, homely, friendly and comfortable. It was also fairly inexpensive. What's more I was upgraded to en-suite bathroom without extra charge. It's very handy for the centre of town without actually being in the centre of town.

I had the pleasure of staying for 10 days at Yorkston Guesthouse while my daughter was settling in at the University of St. Andrews. It was run by a pleasant family. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. My en-suite room was on the third floor with a great view of the gardens. The room was very comfortable and very clean. The guesthouse provided free wifi and a TV. A delicious breakfast was provided every morning, which included the options of fresh fruit, muffins, various cereals or a cooked hot breakfast. The location was a 2 minute walk to the center of town and close to public transportation if needed. The cost was very reasonable.

I recommend this guesthouse to anyone who is looking for a reasonable price, clean, ideal location, and friendly faces. I will return for my next visit to St. Andrews.

This was a last minute booking for a family of four. Welcome great, room just as we needed for a family of four with bags of room and indeed a dressing room too. Shower room well appointed and towels as good as 'Old Course'. Breakfast great as you want and for the price good value for money. Wifi worked.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. She is gluten and dairy free. I emailed the Yorkston ahead of time and they had gluten free bread and non-dairy creamer specifically for her. Great breakfast - full Scottish. They were very accommodating about anything we asked and very friendly. Beautiful lounge and very colorful flowers everywhere. The B&B is right down the street from the Whey Pat Tavern (awesome pub) and within walking distance of anything in St. Andrews. We loved it here and can't wait to go back!

Stayed at the Yorkston for our daughter's graduation. Very comfortable rooms, large and light. Great en- suite facilities; soft towels and a great breakfast. On the second morning we had to leave very early so the owner organised sandwiches, juice and fruit in the fridge downstairs to take with us. Overall a very pleasant stay. Thank you.

Wow those are a lot of patterns in one room. Our first thought as we entered the warm and welcoming 1st floor lounge... but you know what. It worked (but it may have been the lovely bottle of scotch we all sat around enjoying.

I start with this comment because the comfort level felt a bit like home (not so much the patterns :) ). The greeting was very pleasant and casual, the 'residence lounge' was comfortable, the staff answered YES to all questions (not often found).

Then we entered our room, and were we ever surprised. The room was massive, the beds were uber-comfortable and despite it being in the front of the building over the street (where a regular bus goes by) it was quiet.

The bathroom was large with a tub and a separate shower.

The whole room was clean, well maintained and bright.

The breakfast is served for only one hour in the morning (so plan your night accordingly) and is made to order. Including gluten free options (if you pre-warn them).

It is an easy walk to good restaurants, pubs and attractions (including the R & A golf course).

The bus either stops or slows to minimal as when it was time for bed, the traffic wasn't a bother.

A winning combination when staying in this special town.
