“Great location”
Reviewed 23 August 2011

Fantastic location with views to the 18th Green and 1st Tee on the Old Course. We had the Room 26 which was an attached apartment. Separate kitchen and lounge with again great views. Beautifully renovated. Needed double glazing on windows in bedroom. Staff were both helpful and friendly. No free wifi for some crazy reason. Golf Concierge not there until 11 am. Kevin Keenan (General Manager) very nice to deal with.

The Rocca Restaurant (in the Hotel) is nothing sort of brilliant !! It was one of the highlights of our trip there.

Room Tip: Room with a view of golf course

This was our first trip to St Andrews, and chose the area as the hubby is a golf fanatic! The hotel is within easy reach of the nearby train station (5/10 minute taxi ride away) and is about a 5 minute walk away from the main high street in St Andrews. All the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and service was top notch. It has a great bar area and if lucky enough you can get one of the big comfy sofas that sit in front of the window that over look the 18th fairway. The window is a full glass wall so you get great views looking out to sea and of course the famous course.

I had requested a room at the back of the hotel over looking the course. We got the Daly room and had a great view too. The room is very clean and the bed was so comfy, so a good nights sleep was had. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it to.

There are many original features in the hotel, which just adds to the grandness of the place. We had a great stay here and would not hesitate in going back again.

We stayed at the Rusacks over the weekend of 23rd/24th July, its the fourth stay for me and this time we were lucky enough to get the 'Young Tom Morris Suite' with three double windows overlooking the 1st and 18th holes of the Old Course...breathtaking, we really didn't want to leave. The Rusacks is simply a fantastic hotel, oozing old school charm and sophistication, completely in accord with the history and traditions of golf at St. Andrews. Kevin Keenan's team at the Rusacks are benchmark in their attentive, friendly and efficient service. Thanks so much for making our stay so memorable.

The original bedroom we were given had not been cleaned properly, overlooked ventilation shafts and faced 3 blank walls. Then alternative room we were given was on the 4th floor (the lift did not go to the 4th floor) was about 12x10 feet apart from the entrance hallway, but it did overlook the 18th fairway of the Old Course.
The cold water tap on the bath was off and must have been so for ages and the plastic shower curtain was held up by 4 hooks until it was fixed, what decent hotel has plastic shower curtains?
The breakfasts were poor with pre-cooked food resulting in fried eggs like rubber and hard sausages.
The front of house staff and porters were courteous and helpful.
A terrible stay at £284 per night and we booked 6 months in advance!

Room Tip: There must be better rooms than we were offered, but nothing would get me to stay here again.

This trip to St Andrews followed an invitation to play the Old Course which coincided with my wife's 50th birthday, so it was important to stay in a really nice hotel! Having had a fantastic stay at the Rusacks some 25 years ago this was my first choice and once again it came up trumps. Having called in advance to advise of the birthday treat, Jennifer in reservations arranged for flowers and champagne to be delivered to the room and also upgraded us to a magnificent suite. The room was superb with great views across the Old Course and the beach. Service was impeccable from Front Desk to the bars and restaurants, with attentive and knowledgeable staff throughout. I would highly recommend the hotel to any visitor.

Our first room was facing a huge cimney from kithen and it made alot of noise, so after the first night we were moved into a lovely room facing away from the kitchen.
Very big, lovely decor and only thing is that the handles on doors are extremely love... That is how good this hotel is!!!
In the restaurant we had the best meal on our entire trip to Scotland... Lovely all the way through!!!
Do go and spend the extra cash - they are well spend

Room Tip: Get a room away from the chimney from the kitchen

To say we had a room with a view is an under statement, a lovely suit with so many cozy touches with classic furnishing it was amazing. As was our stay, well done all the staff we cannot fault our 2 night visit. Every member of staff we came across went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
The hotel itself is reminiscent of a bygone era traditional with a very relaxed atmosphere full of charm and golfing interest. We stayed dinner bed and breakfast the food at each meal excellent as was the service we received, the staff worked hard to make this a good experience.
St Andrews and the surrounding area is glorious and well worth a visit, stunning views an area full of interest, lots to see and do, even if you don't golf or you want to lunch or shop till you drop ---- it has something for everyone.
