Few hotels around the world can be described as iconic but Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews clearly falls into this category. Just a sand wedge from the 18th green of the Old Course, with the award winning restaurant Rocca Bar and Grill, where the food is first class, and recently refurbished rooms, it is the place to stay when visiting the home of golf. My wife and I were lucky enough to stay in the Seve Room with stunning views over the Old Course to the R&A Clubhouse. All the staff were excellent. They were so very polite and helpful and could not do enough to ensure we had an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the Old Course.

Went there for my 40th birthday with wife and friends, for some golf. Overlooking the Old Course, the views were amazing. The breakfast buffet was awesome and certainly set us up for each day. I will definitely go back!

We spent 2 nights at this hotel while on a golf vacation.

The location is fantastic as the hotel is located along the 18th fairway of the Old Course. We were in the Ginger Beer Room which had the best views. From our main window we had a view of the West Sands as well as the 1st & 18th holes of the Old Course. From our bathroom, yes our bathroom, we had a great view of the 17th green & 18th tee box. Never thought we would be watching golf from the toilet!

The hotel rooms are very nicely decorated, very modern and very comfortable. And we had a King size bed which was quite a treat after having a Double in every other hotel we stayed in. The main lobby of the hotel is beautifully decorated and very spacious. Lots of room to lounge around while waiting for our travelling companion.

The hotel has it's own Car Park which was convenient. Even though there is a lot of free parking in the area it is always quite full and you sometimes would have to park a ways away so it was nice to know we had parking only steps from the main doors.

We had breakfast included in our stay. There was a great continental breakfast buffet plus a variety of hot menu items made to order.

The hotel is also very close to the town centre and tourist attractions.

Overall the best stay we had in all 5 hotels we stayed at in Scotland. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is willing to pay a little more for there stay. It comfortable luxury of this hotel made it worth it!

Room Tip: Even though you don't spend much time in your room I think the sea view room was worth the extra cost.

Just returned from a few days at the Rusacks hotel St Andrews . We had a recently refurbished room overlooking the old course and it was beautiful . The food in the One Under Gastro pub was excellent . The main reason I am doing this review is that the staff were all excellent . A special mention has to go Emma Thomson on reception . We have stayed in a lot of hotels but never had such a pleasant receptionist at check in. Emma went out of her way to be helpful even organising someone to show us our room before we arranged to take it. she was just so happy and pleasant to everyone even on checkout, so many thanks to E,ma and the rest of the staff for an enjoyable stay

Room Tip: Ask and pay for refurbished room the new carpets etc make all the difference

Dear Guest

Thank you for posting you thoughts of the Macdonald Rusacks Hotel on Tripadvisor. I have worked in many beautiful hotels across the world and it is the team members that make a good hotel a GREAT hotel. It is very rewarding as General Manager to hear such comments about my team and the level of service they deliver. I will make sure Emma gets to see your review as I am sure it will be highly motivational for her. Our Executive Chef Davie Aspin will be please to hear your comments also. Davie did his apprenticeship with Marco Pierre White and spent 3 years as Gordon Ramsay’s Sous Chef in London so as you would imagine he has the highest standards.

Thanks you again for your wonderful review and I hope to see you back at the Rusacks in the future.

Kind regards

This is the third time I've stayed in St Andrews and the Rusacks is by far and away the best accommodation I've stayed in.

If you are a golf fan the views from our room are unparalleled any were in the world. If not then they are still something you would never tire of.

We had the luck of staying there on one of the warmest days of the year and the 18th green and the west sands never looked better.

The location of the hotel is a big plus not only with the views but with it being only a short walk into town with its many shops, pubs and restaurants. The town itself is also very beautiful.

The interior of the hotel was also golf themed with many interesting photos and paintings.

Our room was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable. The fixtures and fittings were of the highest spec. We even had a nespresso machine in the room.

The bathroom only had a shower which was fine by us. The towels and the bathrobes were great although a little too warm on that particular day.

We didnt eat in the hotel although the restaurant was highly regarded. The breakfast was decent enough with the added bonus of black pudding and potato scone.

All the staff were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The receptionist even secured us a taxi in double quick time as we were running late for our train.

Given the choice I would definitely stay there again.

Dear Paul

It was wonderful to meet you during your stay and I trust you caught your train in time! Thank you for your kind words. It’s highly rewarding to read such feedback about so many aspects of our hotel. We are blessed with great views, a fantastic location, a newly refurbished hotel, a 3 rosette restaurant and most importantly a team that treats every single guest like they are guests in there own home…..what more could you ask for. Thank you again and I hope your 4th visit to St Andrews is spent at the Rusacks.

Kind regards
