We have enjoyed eating at this hotel restaurant so much over the recent years, that for all family gatherings, be it Birthdays, Christmas lunches or whatever, we always choose Rufflets.
Not only is the food absolutely exemplary, the atmosphere is perfect, the staff are pleasant, impeccably trained and attentive. We are always remembered and greeted like old friends, nothing is ever too much trouble and everything is geared to ensure complete enjoyment of whatever we are celebrating. As we live locally we have never stayed at the hotel, but from the comments of aquaintances or friends who have, that experience is extended throughout the range of services provided by this attractive and beautifully maintained hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the wonderful gardens are a delight especially during the summer months.

We've stayed a few times at Rufllets and always enjoy it. The staff are very friendly, the rooms well appointed and the food wonderful.

We use it as a base for exploring the surrounding area.. Crail, Anstruther etc. The Botanic Gardens in St Andrews are well worth a visit.

Looking forward to the next time....

A lovely place to stay In st Andrews, particularly if you are not a golf fanatic. It has a great country house feel with nice lounges and gardens and great attention to details, like the hot water bottle tucked into your bed at night. Now for the annoying niggles: our dinner (which is a three course affair at Rufflet) was rushed and marred by the waitress laying the breakfast tables around us as we ate our main course. The previous night had been very busy in the hotel, but if the management felt it could impact on service the next day, the dining room should have been closed. Next morning we were woken up at 6:30 by the adjacent guest bathroom extractor fan and power shower (we both jumped up out of bed!). Also the Booking.com page for the hotel was not correct on dinner price and did not explained that there is only an extremely limited amount of standard rooms (particularly double).

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 35 and 36

Thank you so much for your feedback - it is always very much appreciated, even when we don't get it right all of the time.

I am sorry that the experience at dinner was not as good as it should have been, and we have taken steps to ensure that this doesn't happen again.

We are also looking at the issues of the noise from the adjacent rooms - but again please accept my apologies for the disturbance - and I do hope that these issues will not prevent you from returning to the hotel at some point in the future.

With my best regards,

Stephen Owen
General Manager

We stayed at this family run hotel as a treat, and had a great time. If you are looking for a warm welcome, exceptional food, and lovely surroundings for a luxury weekend or break this is a fantastic hotel that provides all of the above. Bar meals or fine dining are available and the quality is very good. nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and attentive staff and it was warm and cosy in all public areas. There were also a number of nice little touches that signalled a real effort is made to make the experience of staying here special.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back look out into the lovely grounds and garden. if you like to sit and relax the two alcove rooms have a lovely little seating area to relax in and if you are going to spend time in the room then are worth the extra cost.

We have just spent two very relaxing nights at Rufflets, and enjoyed every moment of it. The staff are superb --friendly and helpful at all times. The food, as always, was varied, imaginative and delicious and the bedroom was spotless, spacious and comfortable, with a hot water bottle popped in the bed for extra comfort at night--what a lovely touch!--and much appreciated too .The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and, as always, was an absolute pleasure to visit.
