A great hotel well appointed with period and up to date features. Good amenities and fantastic for a quiet few days. Good location just outside St Andrews which can be reached quickly by car and maybe on foot.

The hotel offers a range of accommodation and we stayed in the 2 bed lodge which is 2 sets of twin beds of which one set can be made into a double bed. Rooms are decorated nicely with an excellent shower bathroom with Molten Brown products. The main window overlooking the stunning gardens was affected by outside condensation at various times of the day.

The lounge is very relaxing for coffee/ tea or even afternoon tea. Breakfast is excellent with a range of continental buffet items and a selection of cooked items that are prepared to order. The standard of eggs needs some work.

Dinner at the hotel is ok with some excellent dishes and some requiring attention. Steak, which is a supplement was tough.

Lovely bar with open fire which is comfortable and relaxing but avoid later in the evening as the minimal staff become very busy serving coffees to the dinner guests and so waiting times start to creep in.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel relax for a few days, quiet and serene.

Room Tip: Accommodation outside the main hotel building in the gardens is excellent. The rooms at the back of the hotel maybe noisy as the road leading to St Andrews is nearby.

Delighted to read that for the most part the stay with us was a very good one - and thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.

We have noted the areas that we can improve on - at the end of the day this is the sort of feedback that does help us get it all right - and all of the time.

Regards

Stephen

Had an excellent stay at Rufflets last weekend. Four adults and a baby booked in for 2 nights for my mother's 70th birthday surprise. And what a lovely surprise it was too. Two stayed in a classic room and two in the turret room which was stunning and had wonderful views of the gardens. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Our baby was welcomed at all times and despite the fact he slept through dinner, there was never any problem with him coming into the restaurant which allowed us all to relax and eat together. Thank you to all the staff at Rufflets for a perfect stay. We hope to return soon.

Many thanks for your feedback - it is all very much appreciated.

We were pleased to read how well the weekend went - and especially so to see that we made sure that your baby son was so well accommodated for. We are a very 'family-friendly' hotel, and whilst we dont have the leisure facility that some families seek, do provide a great service for all ages.

Hope that you will be able to return in the near future.

We stayed at Rufflets to celebrate our anniversary after getting married there 2 years ago.

We arranged our booking with Jennifer at reception and she was so accommodating to our needs. When we arrived we were shown to our lovely room 8 which was so spacious and decorated beautifully. The trademark Rufflets bear was waiting on our bed and the shortbread was quickly consumed!

We ate in the Terrace Restaurant in the evening and the food was just wow. We had delish bread and dip to accompany our food. We both had choc puddings of brownie and choc tart, both heavenly. Gavin I think was in charge and he again was so accommodating and friendly.

We slept so well in our huge bed and had such a relaxing experience in the rain shower in the morning.

The breakfast buffet was really good as was our ordered dish. The only let down to our visit was the breakfast service staff. The girl who was in charge was very unfriendly and it felt like her smiles were very forced, as if she didn't want to be there. This rubbed off on the other staff serving who seemed a little fed up. There were a few things I would expected at breakfast for example our toast rack was empty at the end of the table for a while and no-one asked if we wanted a top up. Complete opposite of the dinner service from the previous night where we were offered top ups on everything.

We had a lovely walk around the gardens after breakfast and then a chill out on the reception couches with the papers. On check out the girl at reception was lovely.

All in another great visit and we are looking forward to celebrating anniversary number 3 with the Rufflets team.

Room Tip: All the rooms we have stayed in have been lovely.

I was delighted to read that you had enjoyed another great stay with us at Rufflets (and have noted the comments on the consistency of the service) - and thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.

We do hope that you might find time before the next anniversary to be able to come and enjoy the hotel yet again.

With my best regards,

I was on the top floor under the eaves in a beautiful spacious room with a grey and wine-colored palette. It was obvious that a lot of thought went into the design of this room. So many of the little things that make a difference in a room such as lighting and enough well located plugs are well done here.

after having spent 7days exploring the Lake District and the Highlands, we arrived at Rufflets and were met by wonderful staff! After checking in to our beautiful rooms, we went for a walk around the grounds. it was fantastic! Very peaceful and lovely...Stephen Owen the Operations Director was a love and hosted a most incredible dinner with his lovely wife and daughter. It was all around a fantastic stay. The next day he was so kind to take us around St Andrews and Castle course. I will always think of Rufflets and hope to come back!!!

It does seem that you, like many of our guests, do fall in love with Rufflets once thay have been able to come and stay.

It is a special hotel, in very special place - and the peace and tranquility, backed up by the care and attention that the staff take in providing the great service, is all something needs to be experienced first-hand.

I trust that the rest of the trip around our beautiful country went well, and that the journey home was trouble free!

Regards

Stephen
