Best Western Scores Hotel

We were visiting our son again, so have a couple of comparative hotels. We were firstly delighted with the location. relatively easy parking and then everything is within easy walking distance.
Our room was great, we had an upgrade due to the time of booking. Clean, comfortable and fabulous views. Some renovations next door which did not impinge on our stay. Bathroom clean and functional .
Breakfast was good, avoid the scrambled eggs and ask for fresh. We had an evening meal, it was Valentines weekend therefore it was a set menu, so we cannot comment on normal evening service. We enjoyed the meal and the staff were helpful.
On our return home I received a response to my 'in room' hotel questionnaire response - first time ever!! When we return to St Andrews we will definitely hope to stay at the Scores.

What a lovely old fashioned hotel to have a relaxing break. The food is great quality, the staff are very warm, welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very spacious and the location is fantastic. Right beside the golf course, sandy beach and shops.

I shudder to think what it costs to stay in St Andrews if you have to be there during a major sporting event but for a night's stay in February this hotel was very good value and a pleasant stay indeed. The rooms are spacious with Freeview television, free wi fi (Best Western suggests it's the only chain to offer this) and tea/coffee facilities. Location is very good as well (at the eastern end of the coastal road that runs parallel to the town centre, and just before the golf course starts - you can see the coast and one of the town's beaches from front-facing windows too) and assuming it was still out of season I'd look no further than this place if I were visiting St Andrews again.

There are two or three bars and restaurants at different price ranges in the hotel but the only hotel catering I used was the breakfast - like other reviewers, I'm afraid I did find the breakfast service not quite a match for the quality of the breakfast itself (although in terms of the service in general, reception staff were all very helpful and friendly), everything seemed to take just a bit longer than it might have needed to take.

This is the second Best Western I''ve stayed in in different countries and they do seem to have more character than other chain properties in the same kind of range - definitely worth considering in future if they're all as nice as the ones I've visited so far.

Myself and my husband arrived at The Scores Hotel with a friendly welcome. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The Junior Room was large, lovely, clean and airy as was the bathroom. Our breakfast was lovely, again the staff made sure we were happy with our meal offering more coffee, tea...and dinner in the evening was outstanding. Thank you for making our stay amazing.

I recently got married at The Scores, and we had 2 beautiful rooms overlooking the sea - the views are breath-taking, the food was simply superb, the staff were most attentive, however, at the same time discreet. Friends and family who stayed (around 40 in total) all agreed the hotel, rooms and food were magnificent. And for us, it was great value as well....If you're thinking of a stay in St Andrews, do not overlook The Scores!!

Excellent room overlooking sea and old course on second floor. Big, very comfy bed and easy chairs. Bathroom a bit of a let down with really awkward shower. However biggest problem was breakfast which was a shambles. Shame the service was so bad because the full Scottish and the 3egg omelette were extremely tasty. Happy to go back to a homely place in a great location.

It was our first trip to St. Andrews and the stay at the Scores was simply fantastic! Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the water and a partial view of the first hole of the Old Course. The purpose of the trip was to play golf so being able to walk to both the New and Old Courses was unbelievable. The food at the Scores was delicious and the pub was most enjoyable. Fantastic pubs, restaurants and shops are all within easy walking. When I return to St. Andrews, I will stay at the Scores!
