Just back from three days and it was superb !!,.

Four of us were there for golfing, we ate in the sands restaurant last night and it was faultless both the food and service were great.

Had two visits to the Kholer Spa, I am a regular visitor to Gleneagles and would rate the spa facilities at The Old Course as better, well worth a visit.

Breakfast on both days was very good, service was fast and very at tentative.

In a nutshell well done to all the Old Course staff, great place and great service .

Absolutely fantastic from the minute we arrived until the time we left!!

We were asked the purpose of our visit, said it was our anniversary and within 10 minutes of being in our room champagne and canopys along with a card were delivered to the room.

Was given a night at this hotel as a wedding present and it is the best hotel I have ever stayed in in the UK without a doubt. The welcome at reception was first class - bags were whisked away with no fuss, check in was hassle free. We were given a glass of bubbly whilst being shown around the hotel. Then a tour of the room. The views were amazing! We were sitting on the West Wing within an hour sipping Champagne and watching the golfers. The rooms are luxurious with massive super king beds and lovely bedding. Had supper at The Jigger, frequented by lots of golfers and a lovely atmosphere. Had breakfast in the room, brought up in a 'Tardis' to keep it warm. Really didn't want to leave and looking forward to a return visit!

Room Tip: Golf view room recommended

Stayed for a couple of nights and we were really happy that we chose this hotel. It's not cheap but the service is very good - not over the top - and the staff, especially the young people that work there, were knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Listening to a young man behind the bar describe the variety of whisky on offer was a real treat and showed Scottish hospitality at it's very best. The spa is great and breakfast was a meal in itself! Views from the 4th floor restaurant, looking out to sea over the 17th are lovely and sitting in the outdoor hot tub enjoying the St Andrews sunshine was a real bonus.

We stayed 2 nights in an Old Course Room, which was much more spacious than I had expected from the photos and description on the website - it was more like a junior suite, with a separate sitting area through 2 arches, a large bathroom and an additional cloakroom. Best of all were the views over the Old Course and the sea.

The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The concierge gave us an excellent map and guide to beautiful and historic St Andrews, which is an easy walk from the hotel.

The first evening we ate at the nearby Seafood Restaurant (not part of the hotel, but excellent and very popular, so do book in advance). On our second evening, we ate in the Road Hole Restaurant (where breakfast is also served) - the food and service at dinner were both excellent.

The selection and quality of food at breakfast is outstanding - my only criticism is that it takes ages to get anyone to take an order for hot food, but don't let that put you off - the eggs Benedict are amazing.

Room Tip: The view over the Old Course is well worth the extra. Room 256 is very spacious
