Owner description: The famous Swilcan Bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course at the Home of Golf. The bridge was originally built over 700 years ago so shepherds could move their flock across the Swilcan Burn which meanders through what is now the 1st and 18th fairways. Today the Swilcan Bridge, with the 'Auld Grey Toun' providing the most beautiful of backdrops, is one of the most iconic settings in golf. So much more than a little stone crossing, the Swilcan Bridge is the history of the game, it's the magic moments, it's felt the footsteps of the true greats.

“Cliche but who cares!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Everyone does it but what visit to St Andrews would be complete without a picture on the Swilken Burn Bridge?
Tip - Too many people run out and do not think about their photo. Make sure you decide if you want the 18th green as the backdrop or a side shot of the bridge.

“You have to take your photo - Jack did!”

Well, there is certainly not a more iconic bridge than this one. Very small in stature but huge in the memories of golfers watching The Open since we were youths.

“No1 place in St Andrews for Photograph”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

If you visit St Andrews this is the No1 place in St Andrews to have your photograph taken. Just make sure you avoid the golfers playing the 18th hole and go on the course and take your photograph. Ensure you get the St Andrews skyline and buildings in the background. This is an iconic image the world over!! Me and my lad July 2014

Unlike the Centre Court at Wimbledon, you can have access to a small unpretentious stone bridge that ALL the stars of the golf world have walked over for Centuries - for free!!
