A really fun place to hang out and have a few drinks, surrounded by golfing history. The location, just near the first/eighteenth of the Old Course makes it a Must Visit for any golfer visiting St Andrews before crossing the road to Auchterlonies for a bit of retail therapy!

I believe the Dunvegan changed hands recently, but is still pulling in the golfers after they finish their rounds on the famous links. Good atmosphere.
Didn't think that the steak pie was up to its usual high standard, but still very edible.
Dunvegan is a 'must visit' when you are in downtown St. Andrews.

We ate here as a party of 8 and while the food was ok it was expensive . One of our party sent his 8oz. fillet steak back as it was clearly underweight . The nachos we shared to start were very good but wouldn't rush back to eat here .

The Dunvegan Hotel is located centrally to everything in St Andrews. Golf, food, shopping and touring are within walking distance.

Our party consisted of 4 golfers in our 50s. We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. The 2 rooms had 2 twins in each. The bathrooms are very updated and sleeping areas are sized for 2 twin beds. Given the location (100 yards from 18th green of Old Course) the rooms were great.

The pub and food were terrific. It was nice having one of the town's best places to eat just steps away from your room. The included breakfast was above average; nice to have warm breakfast to each start day.

What makes the Dunvegan special, is the nostalgia and the staff, including the owners Jack and Sheena. The staff is extremely attentive and treat you as one of the family.

We rented a small SUV, and there was no issue parking on the streets near the hotel. Small SUV required for commuting to courses like Carnoustie and Kingsbarn; if you do not want to rely on taxis.

Take the time to walk around the town of St Andrews to enjoy the history and people.

I would recommend this hotel to all golfers, and if you are lucky, you may get to stay here.

Tip: if you are renting a car at one of the Scotland airports, be sure what size you are getting. A large SUV in Scotland, is about the size of a Subaru Legacy Wagon (small SUV in USA). Also, if you do not know how to manually shift, be sure to select automatic transmission. Driving on left side of road, and also shifting, was more than challenging.

Room Tip: Book early, given hotel only sleeps 16 people total a night, this hotel fills quickly. Enjoy the pub and sitting outside having a beer.
