“Perfect, stunning accommodation in a tranquil yet central location.”
Reviewed 5 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

You can totally relax in this beautifully quirky property tucked away in a lovely garden and yet only minutes from the beach, the golf courses and all that the town of St Andrews can offer. The accommodation has everything you could need and the owners are lovely people, welcoming and friendly, who will advise on parking in the area - I found this was was easy once you know which streets offer free spaces. I recommend climbing St Rule's Tower at the cathedral for astonishing views over the town, (watch your head in the doorway at the top - I didn't!) Also a walk along the Lade Braes which is a long standing public footpath that winds around part of the town and through wooded areas. In fine weather, book (in advance online) for the rigid inflatable boat which takes you from Anstruther to the Isle of May. The boat trip is great fun, zipping across, and even a non birdwatcher like me enjoyed seeing/hearing/occasionally smelling the huge variety of birds - the puffins alone are a delight.

“Hidden gem in St Andrews!”
Reviewed 30 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

There are several things we loved about this place. Firstly, location... a one minute walk to the Old Course and only a five minute walk to Market Street, at the heart of St Andrews. Sheila and Ian were very helpful and friendly on arrival, the introductory tour was concise and well thought-out. The cottage design is modern, yet blends in with the character of its surroundings. Bedrooms adequate size with pristine en suites. Well stocked kitchen area and spacious lounge on upper level. Utility room extremely useful, with tumble dryer.
We also felt that the cottage is offered at a refreshingly fair price...a week's holiday in St Andrews has sadly become something of an unaffordable luxury for many in recent years, due to over-inflated rental tariffs.
No surprise, then, that The Whins' diary is pretty much full for the year.
Highly recommended. Will definitely return ( if it's available!).

“Return visit - perfect location and accommodation”
Reviewed 30 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

This was our fourth stay at Whinns Cottage. The location couldn't be better and the house is the perfect size for our family. Ian and Sheila are always really welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. The house is literally a stones throw from the 18th hole of the old course and a five minute walk from shops and restaurants. It has everything you need and is absolutely immaculate. We love it and thoroughly enjoy our time there.

“Fantastic cottage”
Reviewed 4 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We stayed at the Whins cottage for 2 nights between Christmas and New year and it was fantastic. Sheila was very helpful and quick to respond to any queries we had. The cottage is finished beautifully and was ideal for our family of 4. The attention to detail was fantastic - even leaving out two chocolate snowmen for my kids as a welcome - they loved this. Everything needed for our stay was provided. The location was ideal for accessing the beach and the town centre - ideal with 3 year olds. I have recommend this accommodation to everyone I tell about our trip and we would not hesitate to stay here again

“Wonderful”
Reviewed 6 October 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed at the Whinns Cottage for 1 week from August 27, 2016 through September 2, 2016. What a great place to stay and a great location! The cottage is very modern and nice and light inside. They have a washer and dryer which came in very handy since we were on a three week trip. The cottage is in easy walking distance to the Old Course and all of the restaurants in St. Andrews. We shared the cottage with another couple who had stayed there several times previously. Ian and Sheila were very friendly and always eager to help. We love St. Andrews and the Whinns Cottage and will stay there again on our next trip to St. Andrews!!!

“Modern, Spacious, Very Clean and Conveniently Placed”
Reviewed 13 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Whether you intend to play golf or just enjoy St Andrews and the surrounding area this cottage is ideally placed. The accomodation is modern, clean, spacious and private yet only a walk from the town (and Tescos,) or the West Beach and the famous St Andrews golf course. There is every convenience provided here for your needs. Standing in a private garden is an added bonus as this can be enjoyed from the inside through the beautiful glass facade or from the decking if you are fortunate enough with the weather. You don't require a car, we travelled up from Milton Keynes on the train to Leuchars where you will find taxis (around £15) or buses do go from the station to St Andrews. Thank you for a truly lovely stay.
Having scrolled down I would now like to add to this review as it asks if the cottage is suitable for people with disabilities, but of course there are a VERY wide range so there isn't a direct answer. For us it was brilliant as my husband has dementia. Although he doesn't wander I know he felt secure in this strange environment because the garden gate at the bottom of the garden locks, I also felt safe in leaving him for a short while without having to worry. However if you have mobility issues it could be more problematic as it is a short walk to the property and the cottage itself has about six steps down to the lower level. The same considerations would apply for older travellers and to people with families as it would be suitable for some but not for others.

“Fantastic location for golfers”
Reviewed 30 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The property is modern inside and out and was a great place to stay for golf. We fired up a gps unit to see how far the property is from the 18th green on the old - it's 200 yds but it felt closer.

Our one reservation beforehand was the lack of designated parking but there is so much free parking nearby that it was never an issue.

Can't reccommend the place enough!
