“A nice venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 November 2013

Been here a few times over the years and it's nice to be able to say that the standard has been maintained. It's not flashy but you get a very good, reasonably priced meal in a wonderful situation overlooking the St. Andrews golf links. Service was excellent and we were able to set the pace for the serving of the food and drink. Food well prepared and served and generally a lovely experience.

“good but not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2013

fantastic service and a lovely location however the quality of the food was mediocre at best.Furthermore the restaurant itself was not very well furnished and felt rather uncomfortable. The menu was boring and while what was served was decent it was vastly overpriced. The one redeeming feature was the quality of the staff who truly did their best to make you enjoy your visit despite the previously stated setbacks.

“OK ish”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2013

Been to st Andrews many times playing golf and on holiday. This used to be a high spot of some great days in the town. Now a bit of a letdown. Sandwiches expensive . we paid £17 for two basic sandwiches and a couple of drinks. Other food I saw delivered was meagre and expensive. I paid and then had to go seeking my change which was on the bar. Many tables reserved and customers refused a table because of this, The seven tables reserved were never occupied all lunchtime. Its lost its cosy feel the feel of a friendly busy golf club. we called twice in the 10 days instead of every day. its a shame we will miss it.....

“Great stop after a good game of golf”

Very welcoming , even though very busy . All three guests had an excellent meal , and service first class . The menu has changed and was disappointed that they had removed their very good seafood pie . Will no doubt be returning here

“The right stop before/after golf and for those just wanting to be part of the location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2013

We had booked through the Old Course Experience, and stayed 3 nights in St. Andrews, played 3 courses. The package included lunch at the Swilcan Restaurant. I enjoyed the chicken piri piri both days. (like Nando's in Edinburgh). And wish I remembered the name of the sundae I got - it was mint, chocolate and delicious. We ate quickly on Thursday as we played 36. But I was able to enjoy this even more the second day after playing the Old Course. If you aren't playing golf, still come down here. You will feel the vibe of the location. The staff is friendly. They don't seem to rush you, so let them know if you have tee times or other commitments.
