Stayed here a few times but never written review! The hotel is stunning. Everything about it is luxury, the bedrooms are spacious and very tastefully decorated! Great big bathroom and heated floor in bathroom, bathrobes, hairdryer provided! Tea/coffee facilities. Staff are very helpful and efficient and breakfast was fantastic! Everything you could possibly think of! Swimming pool is lovely and a great place to chill out. Will return again and again. My only criticism would be that the courtesy bus could run later than 6pm..

Stayed at the hotel for a family wedding, my Wife and I had a king room which was massive and immaculately presented, all the staff were very helpful and kind, the hotel is huge the only complaint i would have is we had a view facing the car park so not a lot to look at however, my in laws had hired the kingdom of fife suite for the wedding which has a lovely balcony and an amazing view of St Andrews, the golf course and the firth of forth, the suite was brilliant tons of space, the bedroom and bathrooms i thought were actually bigger than the living and dining area. We had our evening meal served to us in a conference room which again was excellently finished the staff were courteous and professional and very friendly. The breakfast buffet the following morning defeated me so many options and cooked to perfection would stay here again for sure if I could.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the coast

We have been to this hotel and enjoyed our stay so came back with a group of friends (couples) for a night away. The check in was fine, very friendly woman on reception. Room lovely, massive comfy bed. It was the service that let the place down later. It was pouring down outside so we decided not to go out and instead eat in the hotel. We tried to get a table at the Italian which was fully booked, fair enough, our fault for not booking! They suggested getting a meal at the bar so we went through to the bar, no seats so we went to the extra bar at the other side which wasn't open so we sat in there and deided to order from the bar and eat through there. Disappointing the other bar wasn't open, they seemed to have a staff shortage. Then when my husband went to order drinks at the bar they stood there for ten minutes while the barman made up drinks for other orders, not so much as a sorry for the wait so my husband complained. There was obviously a staff shortage and when asked about it they said they weren't expecting the high volume of guests...hello! Its peak season andthe weather forecast had been known about for a while that it was going to be awful. Really they a should have expected more people to stay in the hotel than go out!!! When the food EVENTUALLY came it was poor. We found out there was a wedding on there and that's where most of the staff were. Next morning there was a paper at our door which we distinctly said we didn't want when asked. I informed the reception and returned the paper. When checking our receipt later it said on "guest stated they did not request paper even though it was on the system". Ever feel accused of lying?? I probably would have given a good rather than average rating if this wasn't meant to be a high quality five star (very expensive) hotel. Not five star service in my opinion but hotel in general was nice and we slept well :)

The location is ten minutes from the center of St. Andrews, elevated on a hill near the water with an amazing view of the town. Friendly staff greet you at the entrance, and make you feel welcome and comfortable right away. Consistent service with the Fairmont hotels, newer style building that appears more geared towards conferences compared to the Fairmonts in Canada that we have visited previously.

If your looking for luxury and open spaces, this is the best hotel in St. Andrews. Top class service, top class facilities and beautiful location. Only drawback might just be the distance from the town centre, but there's a shuttle bus from the Hotel to take you down. Yes it's is expensive, but on this occasion, you definitely get what you pay for.

We stayed here for one night on Sun 24th Aug 2014. We booked the room and a round of golf direct with the hotel through their offers webpage. We played on the Torrence course and it was absolutely fantastic, the greens were immaculate and consistent and the views from the course overlooking St Andrews and the North Sea were incredible. I would certainly recommend playing on this course. The chaps in the pro shop were also friendly. We booked last minute and whilst we were told the Torrence course was busy the person we spoke to managed to book us a tee time on the Torrence course which we very much appreciated. We checked into the hotel and out with Lauren on front of house. She was incredibly friendly. We were keen to head into St Andrews for dinner and Lauren recommended Forgans. We would highly recommend a visit to Forgans, it was a great suggestion. The service at the hotel was very good and the golf was great. If you are travelling to St Andrews to enjoy the golf and want to stay in a hotel with great views then this is the place for you but if you are not into chain corporate hotels then you will probably be better off staying somewhere else. The only other comment I would make is whilst the swimming pool area is nice it's not luxurious. For example, we have stayed at the Thurlestone Hotel in Devon which has great spa facilities and rightly or wrongly I was expecting this hotel to have similar spa facilities but it did not. If you are booking a golf package make sure you contact the pro shop to book a tee time in advance of your stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the sea or St Andrews.

Everything was fantastic! The room was actually a junior suite - it was huge and so wonderfully decorated. The view was unbelievable. While we're not golfers we could appreciate the manicured course right outside. The breakfast was fantastic and had traditional Scottish food and so much more.
