“Perfect, simply perfect.”
Reviewed 8 November 2010

Although neither of us are golfers, we were looking for a special treat and our experience at Fairmont St Andrews was nothing short of perfect. From the outset, we were simply spoiled!

The valet parking is a treat as is the delivery of luggage to your room. We had two nights in an amazing Executive Suite - beautifully appointed with a super kingsize bed, luxury bed linen, flat screen TVs in the bedroom and lounge, a 6 seater dining suite, fire, luxury bathroom, cloakroom, etc. Also, we had stunning views from an equally stunning suite. Great views across the course and the sea.

We were so lucky to have fantastic weather for our stay. St Andrews itself is only a short drive from the hotel and, although parking can be difficult, it is worth making the effort. We had a lovely stroll through the ruins of the cathedral.

Staff are both unobtrusive but overly helpful. How do they manage to do that?!

We dined in the Kittocks Den one evening but didn't experience the other restaurants for dinner. Breakfast was a treat - good selection of options including cereals, fruit, pastries, cooked fare, etc. There is also an Omelette Bar for cooked to order omelettes.

I didn't experience the leisure facilities but my boyfriend did enjoy the swimming pool. Good size, good facilities, etc.

We genuinely didn't want to leave and look forward to our next visit.

Stayed at the Manor Homes for our annual friendly house party. Accommodation is of the highest standard: spacious and spotless. Pays to arrive early to bag the biggest bedroom which boasts a deep bathtub. Beds are super kingside with deliciously comfortable mattresses and luxurious bedding. Living accommodation is well equipped and the iPod/iPhone dock and Bose surround sound an added bonus. Hotel facilities equally impressive and some of our party were full of praise for the standard and quality of the golf courses. Overall looking forward to next year already.

One night simply wasn't enough. From the check in to check out the service and standard of the hotel was faultless. All staff were friendly and gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble for them, special note here to Claudia at reception. The King Suite we had booked was beautifully appointed and presented, and we found all areas of the hotel spotlessly clean. The Spa, was as relaxing as it should be, and both our evening meal and breakfast the following day, were of the highest quality. Full marks all around, looking forward to going back.

The Fairmont is a huge Spa hotel around 3 miles outside St Andrews. It is marketed as a luxury family Spa Hotel but also as a golfer's paradise so there was a large international range of guests when we stayed. The hotel is huge and can resemble an airport but is much more comfortable with different areas to eat and relax. The Spa was included in our pretty reasonable B&B package but the treatments were expensive. There are two links courses attached to the hotel which were very busy when we stayed.

We had sea-view rooms which were luxurious and comfortable. We can recommend the bar meals and breakfasts. The main impressive feature of this hotel was the very friendly and helpful staff. They really did make the stay memorable. The hotel has a regular shuttle bus to and from St Andrews and the driver often went out of his way to help. It does not really matter that the hotel is out of town, however it would be lovely if there was a path to St Andrews as their is no pavement along the road. I suspect that is largely out of the hands of the Fairmont and I gladly recommend this hotel.

We had a fantastic stay here with our 12 year old son this October holiday.
The hotel is amazing well kept clean and so family friendly, all the staff were lovely and would help you with what ever you asked them.
Room was large and clean.
Only hiccup was the buffet menu price for children.
Children age 6 years old to 12 years £6.99 and 12 years old to 16 years £9.99, problem was a child of age 12 falls into both price ranges in which the staff did reilise but didn't understand why, so beware if you have a 12 year old clarify with waiter how much you will be paying for child in this age bracket. As they just charge you the higher price of the two.
Apart from this a fantastic hotel in which we will be going back at easter break.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days with clients. On check in the receptionists Claudia & Meridith were more then welcoming & helpful, we had been travelling since 4am that morning & i was extremely tired, the staff were most helpful in arranging for my room to be available before the 3pm check in time, which was much appreciated. The rest of my group were travelling in for the last day of the Dunhill. The rooms are beautful & spotless clean. My room had a big bathroom with shower & Bath. The breakfast buffet has great choice & the omelettes were a big hit with my group. The hotel is huge but extremely comfortable & relaxing. Their is a free shuttle bus on the hour each hour into St. Andrews which saves a small fortune in taxis. Each & every staff member i met during my stay was extremely helpful & friendly. I would have no hesitation recommending the Fairmont for business or pleasure.

I went to the Fairmont at the weekend in a group of 10 for my Hen Party, we opted for the Sunday Spa package which was excellent value for money. From the minute we arrived the staff were extremely attentive and could not do enough to assist. The rooms were fantastic....spotless & really comfortable, no shortage of towels or anything you would need for a short stay.

Treatments at the Spa were excellent and again good value as part of the package, they also gave us a retreat room where we opted for sandwiches & champagne......again just a really nice touch!

Breakfast was vast, lot's of choices and really nice. Checkout was again really straight forward, even though the hotel had a conference going on and a large number of guests but this didn't cause any disruption at all.

I would certainly visit this hotel again and whilst it is slightly out of town, the free bus is ideal or alternatively there is enough in the hotel not too have to go to town.
