Immaculate guest house in perfect location between town and golf courses; equipped with all modern conveniences and decorated with traditional Scottish furnishings. Mick and Chris do all they can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable, including personal touches such as a large bouquet of lilies in the entrance.

It was my first time in St Andrews and we had selected the Lorimer Guest House. Marvelous breakfasts, comfortable and tasteful rooms, prior location and the outstanding hospitality of Mick and Chris made this a memorable golf trip. The guest houses' location is perfect. Courses, Pubs and restaurants, everything in walking distance. Even parking the car close by was no problem.
Chris and Mick were very helpful in familiarizing us to the St Andrews' world of golf, which is so different from other golf centres that some guidance is necessary to get around.
Always available for advice, flexible and uncomplicated, Mick, as a low handicap golfer himself, knew intuitively what we would prefer and had tee times arranged in seconds. After the rounds our wet stuff was taken care of by Chris and Mick and their lokal knowledge helped us to find the best pubs and restaurants. I am sure to visit St Andrews again and it will certainly be the Lorimer Guest House to stay.

In a town of many guest houses, the Lorimer stands out for the golfer in particular.
Our room was comfortable, modern, well presented and spotless. Wonderful breakfasts offered wide choice, fresh local quality produce and nice presentation, with nothing too much trouble and even times flexed to accommodate early tee-offs. Wifi was available throughout, with a laptop provided in the lounge/dining room, so you can check on the Old Course ballot.
Moreover, Mick and Chris were particularly helpful in arranging the golfing trip, being fully knowledgeable on the options and protocols of booking the various St Andrews courses, and on the golf courses themselves. Prior to the trip, advice on all this was freely given and they conveniently arranged bookings on the six “other” courses and even put together the ballot entry to the famous Old Course, less than five minutes walk away. For first time golfing visitors to St Andrews this was invaluable and reassuring support.
After play, equipment could be kept in the house, and drying facilities for gear completed very full golfing service. The location of the Lorimer is right in the heart of the town, giving access to shops and restaurants, and Mick and Chris were a source of sound advice on these, too.

We stayed with Mick and Chris for 5 nights in October. They are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They were always happy to provide suggestions for things to do and places to eat. They helped me plan a day trip to Edinburgh that was a breeze to do. As well they are able to arrange a very reasonably priced laundry service which we happily took advantage of.

We had room 5. It is a lovely large room overlooking the street. In fact it is the room that is pictured above. If memory serves it was renovated last year. It has a really nice size bathroom with dual sinks and a spacious shower. The only challenge I had was the vessel sinks were on a tall vanity and being short it was a little awkward for me. The bathroom and room are kept absolutely spotless. The bed is comfortable. Our room was at the front of the building so there can be noise at night from people on the street so you may want a different room if you like to go to bed early or wake up late. It was so nice to have a room with plenty of space and storage to settle into during our stay. The other places we stayed during our extended trip to the UK were so small with little storage. This was fantastic.

They do a wonderful made to order breakfast that will give you a great start to your day. The guys had an early tee time one morning and they were very accommodating so the guys were able to get something for breakfast before they headed out.

The location is great, a very short walk to shopping, golf courses and restaurants.

I highly recommend this guest house to anyone visiting St Andrews especially golfers as they are both avid golfers and can provide great insights into golf in the area.

My husband and I stayed over at this guest house on our trip to Scotland last week and it was a fantastic night. Great room, superb service and an exceptional breakfast.
Michael and Christine who own the guest house were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them.
If you ever find yourself needing a golfing break this is the place for you as you can be on the famous golf course within a minute of leaving the guest house and if your a golf widow there's plenty to see and do while you wait including some nice shops!!!!
Even if you don't go for the golf there's lots of places to visit within easy driving distance including Edinburgh and Perth, Scone Palace near Perth is definitely worth a visit.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed here now and I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone thinking of going to St Andrews. The hosts are absolutely lovely and always have time for a chat (especially if it's about golf), the food is always good whatever you go for, and sets you up perfectly for the day. The rooms are spotless and the location is as good as you could hope for.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the house are quieter.
