“Handy for St Andrews.”
Reviewed 2 November 2012

A twin en-suite ground floor room was booked for 2 nights, but with snow the night before any worries abour our room being cold were dispelled as soon as we arrived. In fact by the end of our stay the opposite was true as we were compelled to open the secondary glazed windows on our last morning, we were so warm. Our room was one of a pair sharing a front door but with separate lockable doors inside an entrance hall this would have made this an ideal set up for a family. Set back from the road the rooms are quiet and with adjacent parking, some round the back of the unit with views across the estuary, others are south facing. The owners were very interested in their guests interests and needs and were most helpful throughout our stay; breakfasts were ordered the night before, but were from a good selection and were cooked to order on our arrival at table. The room was well supplied with the usual furniture and accessories, and our request for a hairdryer was dealt with promptly and without a fuss, but a minor complaint was the very squeaky floorboards throughout the room/bathroom. My bed was a lot firmer than I am used to but I still managed decent nights sleep during our stay. Handy for St Andrews golf links you could walk there if pushed but it is best to have your own transport when staying here.

A group of 5 golfers stayed at the Edenside house in June/July of 2012 for 5 nights. Edenside is approximately a 5-8 minute drive from St. Andrews (traffic dependent). St. Andrews is not in walking distance. We used its location as a staging area for our golf in St. Andrews and in the wider Fife region.

This property affords excellent value to the cost conscious traveler. The rooms are nothing special but they are clean and perfectly adequate. The bathrooms were, as well, clean and adequate.

The views of the estuary are surprisingly nice and provide an excellent backdrop to an interesting property.

The owners were exceptionally nice, providing excellent service and lots of friendly advice. The breakfast each morning was, as well, absolutely top notch.

To sum it up, this establishment provided us with clean/comfortable though not-fancy rooms, a great breakfast, fantastic service from exceptionally nice owners approximately 5 mins from St. Andrews at what is, in my opinion, a very reasonable rate.

I would not hesitate to stay again if/when I return to the Kingdom of Fife.

Stayed here for one night. The room was very clean, and very cozy... breakfast was excellent, and the owners are very helpful, cheerful and lovely. They helped us chart our way to our next destination, and with their recommendations, we ended up seeing a lot more than previously planned. Location is a bit out of St Andrews, but it is so peaceful and wonderful that it is worth the short drive. View is amazing from the lawn by the water, especially at sunset. I spent a week in Scotland, staying in different hotels and B&B's every night, and this one is the only one I would go back... absolutely great.

Wonderful accomodations in the room and the dining room. Hosts/Owners were so friendly and willing to provide St Andrews info and travel info. Superb Scottish breakfast. Great countryside location by the estuary. Loved the peace & quiet of the country to escape the city noises. First time in the U.K. and felt most welcomed. Room was cozy with 3 of us and a lot of luggage. Would stay here again and will recommend to anyone. Clean and well appointed room.

Room Tip: You need to enjoy the country to really appreciate this location and peacefulness. It is only sever...

Stayed here for a night while ttending a festival in St Andrews

It is a little way out of town (£7 in a cab) but it was the only place available at a reasonable rate.

The room was spotless, it was quiet and my hosts were chatty and helpful and the breakfast was everything a good Scottish breakfast should be.

Extra point for the jump start to my car as I had left my lights on flattening my battery.

Our room had twin beds and mine was a bit lumpy so it gets marked down for this. It's also a little way out of town so a second Guinness over dinner is a bit of a risk. That's it for the negatives.
There are many more pluses. The hosts are most obliging, the room is larger than most, clean and well appointed, the shower's hot and a hearty breakfast is on offer.

I only stayed for one night, but really enjoyed it. Its not walking distance to St Andrews, but its driveable in 10 mins. The b&b is by the estuary so a beautiful setting. The room itself was warm, clean and very comfy. The owners were really welcoming and gave me some food to take away for breakfast as I didnt have time to stay long enough in the morning. A lovely house, and its a shame I could not have stayed longer. Would recommend for those who want to stay a little away from St Andrews.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back face the estuary...think I had room 7.
