I was sadly very disappointed with this restaurant despite its wonderful location , interior and setting. We arrived on time to be told that the menu’s had not been printed as yet which didn’t fill me with any great expectations as they had had the whole day to prepare them. Decided however to let that go. We all went for the three course set dinner menu and, I must say, that the quality and taste of all the food delivered was indeed excellent including the bread served at the outset. The downside however was the size of the portions. I ordered smoked salmon to start with – there was literally four separate mouthfuls nestled amongst a heap of salad leaves ( I suspect to make it look like it was an adult sized portion.) I then ordered the duck breast which was again superb albeit on the very small size – literally another four mouthfuls and its was gone – 8 green beans and one approx. one 7 cm slice of potato fondant – again, gone in two mouthfuls. I was still hungry after this and hoped that my chosen dessert of sticky toffee pudding would fill me up. Unfortunately all the desserts took 45 minutes to arrive so I was even hungrier at that point. Hardly any apology to speak of either – we got a “your deserts are just coming” when staff noticed we were looking around impatiently and openly looking at our watches . “Just coming” amounts to “Another 15 minutes folks.” When they were eventually served we then got a “sorry for the slight delay with the deserts” and a swift walk away before we had the chance to respond or pass comment. A great shame. We noticed at one stage that the entire restaurant clientele were all sitting waiting for their desserts also. Unacceptable in an establishment of this calibre. I doubt vey much I will return. If however if you like child size portions and are prepared to wait a very long time then the food itself is good and you may wish to give it a try.
