“Needs Improving”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

My wife and I decided to stay here for two nights as we could not find anywhere else close to the High Street. Had read previous previews which were not inspiring. Found the room to be in need of decorating and the carpet replaced. The bedlights need to be lowered so that you do not have to get out of bed to switch them off. The Toilet plumbing is bad, it takes hours for the cistern to re-fill.

However the beds were comfortable and clean and the breakast was really good as were the staff. The Polish and Indian girl on reception were helpful.

The owner needs to spend some money on the Hotel to bring it up to a resonable standard.
It is not suitable for disabled or elderly guests. Finally I found it adequate but not worth more than £40 to £60 per night.

Booked this on the road without doing full research. I was looking for location near Kelvingrove Hall Museum and off street parking. No lift, we were on the fourth floor, 80 steep steps from breakfast rooms in the basement and parking area. Room was tiny even by European standards. Laminated menu was greasy and gross. None responsive to emails about a left item. Almost $100 per night even though it advertised rooms starting at $60. It was really 60 pounds. The off street parking meant asking people to move cars to get in and out.

We (a family of four) stayed here 1 night. The price is not high, which is good but the stairs are very steep. We got the room in the attic and it was not a pleasant heving it so high when you need to carry so many suitcases upstairs.
It is about 1,5km away from the city centre.

It is ok if you travel low budget because it also includes breakfast.

Next time I am unfortunate enough to find this place with the only rooms available in the city centre I will just sleep at the bus station. Shared toilet and shower facilities were particularly depressing. Worst of all the £140pn price tag inflated due to a busy weekend in Glasgow - totally unjustified. Keep looking for somewhere else, this is the last place you want to stay!

Only stayed here for one night earlier this year thankfully. A friend booked it without checking out what it was like and it's safe to say if we read the reviews and saw the pictures before going we would have tried somewhere else. Loads of things wrong -

1) Reception staff not very welcoming
2) Broken chair and sink in room
3) Broken plugs socket, electrics exposed
4) Window wouldn't open
5) Bitten repeatedly overnight by something

Didn't bother with breakfast.

The young lad on reception the next morning was very polite/helpful and phoned a taxi for us which was appreciated. That's about it.

Stayed at the smiths hotel for one night, it's a far cry from mr & mrs smith hotels. The rooms are clean enough but its run down and in need of modernising, there was a hair dyer in the room but when I came to use it no air came from it and it glowed bright red, if I had left my finger on the button there's no doubt it would have set on fire, the shower was weak, let's just say I won't be staying there again anytime soon.

Checked into this place for the first and last time! unfriendly reception staff, no toilet or shower facilities in the rooms, had to share toilets and showers with several other rooms/guests, stale smell throughout the building and very poor room furnishings, 3 of us felt ill after eating breakfast ! I don't normally down rate in my reviews but this was really bad and I wouldnt recommend to anyone to stay here. Prices were also pretty steep for what you got !
Give it a big miss !

Room Tip: Pick another hotel !
