“Great location, wasted on this place”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

Cafes like this only manage to get good reviews because there's very little competition in Glasgow, so as long as they all agree to be mediocre and no-one puts in any effort and ruins it for everyone else, then everyone can keep their lazy jobs. It's a cafe version of price-fixing. How can this place get good reviews? The coffee's not great, it's just fine, and shows a number of basic mistakes - scalded grains, oversteamed milk - which make me suspect that no-one who works there likes coffee. The service is appallingly slow and unfriendly. The whole place needs a bloody good scrub. The 'specials' on the board are often not available, and they do that worrying thing - you know when they have something like a halloumi salad on the specials board, and you say could you have a halloumi sandwich instead, and they say no? It makes me think that all the food is out the back in a freezer, or else why not? And the bread might look posh, but there's nothing to it. It's the bad service that annoys me most. Yeah, I never ever go here. Shame, because we could do with a decent cafe round there.

“The Best Chocolate Brownie”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2013

Love popping into Tapa for brunch, lunch or just a coffee. They have friendly staff and serve the best chocolate brownies I've tasted. If I could suggest an improvement - more comfortable chairs!

“Initial impressions good but....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2013

Gave this a go this morning and initial impressions were good.
The tea was good and missus enjoyed the coffee. It all went wrong when we received our food, the bacon sandwich was served on dry, flavourless bread,no butter,no offer of sauce.
The cake on display arrived, however was half the size shown on counter, well presented with cream and a strawberry.
The surroundings are actually quite good with a relaxing atmosphere and the staff were efficient and friendly, however the bacon sandwiche was awful...not really hard to get that right.
Prices are reasonable but it doesn`t really matter if the food isn`t good.
