A visit to the Acorn Hotel is certainly worth it , comfy room ,great scottish breakfast , friendly staff and for all shoppers not far from min shops, a must is SCARAMOUCHE a great place to eat and enjoy and enjoy a drink or two, [it is just under the Acorn...] it has a really friendly relaxed atmosphere ,very laid back host[in a good way..]We did fall foul of the storms ,TRAIN CANCELLATIONS meant we had to stay an extra night, but hotel gave us the same room, and we had another good night at Scaramouche....

This is a well situated, comfortable hotel which I would recommend for a stay in Glasgow. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was good. The only difficulty was finding the hotel by car through the one way system.

To start on arrival not the friendliest of welcomes by the staff. No offer of help with luggage, showing us to our room.
Handle on fire door was damaged on arrival but hanging on. When returned in the evening it was broken off. Reported to reception who came straight up and had a look. This made it hard to get out of the corridor down the stairs as it was a heavy fire door. Glad there was no fire. This should have been picked up by house keeping it management . Room 13 has very uncomfortable beds with the softest mattresses I have ever had the displeasure of sleeping on. Noise from the outside smoking area of the next door bar did not help the sleep.
Very thin walls so can hear every word of next doors tv.
TV in shower looks good but wasn't working.
No soft close doors so banging through the night.
Blind string to open and close blinds held together by Sellotape in bathroom and room these cost a few pence of eBay.
Bed throws and spare pillows visible from behind bathroom blind, guessing storage cupboard above.
No phone list, would be helpful to know extension for reception.
Door stops for bedroom and bathroom door bent and broken.

We had booked for 2 nights but only stayed for one. Managed to get our money back for the second night with staff being helpful with this and explained changing rooms would probably be no better.

Booked into premier in and had great experience.

This hotel has the potential to be really good, maybe a fresh pair of eyes within the McQuade group could help.

Friendly helpful reception staff, smart, elegant hotel for a great price. Its in a lovely Georgian area of Glasgow near Kelvingrove Park which is well worth a stroll and a visit. Hotel, area and city highly recommended for an unforgettable trip!

I ended up at this hotel by accident, because no other accommodation was free at the time - a LibDem conference took place in town, and it was the first week of term where all the parents take their children up to university. As someone had cancelled short-notice, I was able to get a room at the Acorn. I was pleasantly surprised: a very clean room, great bed with a firm mattress and a great shower. Friendly service, too! The breakfast room was also very nice, and the breakfast reasonably priced. Some visitors might not like that the hotel is located next to a jazz club, but the music is hardly audible and stops around 11pm (I had a ground floor room close to the club).

Myself and my husband spent one night at the Acorn and have not a bad word to say about it. It's clean, comfortable, great value for money and in a great location for both the city centre and the west End. We stayed in room 14 which was in the last floor and thought it to be really nice and quiet. it was on the top floor, with no lift, but we had no problem with it and I am sure they would be more than happy to accommodate requests as they did with us.Near the Hotel there is a great bar/restaurant that does excellent food and very affordable. All in all a great night's sleep!

Needed to stay for 1 night for business and this place was the cheapest within walking distance, I didn't really expect much for the price but it was lovely and I would definitely return if I needed to stay in Glasgow again.

Overall it is lovely and modern; I booked a double room (for single occupancy) and expected it to be a bit of a box but it was a good size - it could easily accommodate 2 people if needed - I can only assume maybe someone complained in the past about it being too small so they now only accept single stays. The rooms have GHDS's which is a big plus for ladies and plenty of biscuits!

Bed was comfy, the room was too hot initially but soon cooled down once I had shut off the radiator and towel rail, there is some noise from the road as it does only have single glazed windows but it didn't impact upon my sleep in any way. Breakfast was included - freshly made to order; it was extremely tasty but not exactly generous - 1 sausage, a handful of mushrooms, a dessert spoon of beans, 2 rashers of bacon and 1 hash brown do not make a full english/scottish breakfast in my opinion but maybe I'm just greedy! I suppose if you have eggs etc it would seem much more sufficient.

There is a lovely little bar right next to the hotel which I had a few drinks in which shows football etc I would also highly recommend this - they also serve food which is handy if you don't want to go far.

I can't recommend this place highly enough.
