I stayed in several hostels all around Scotland, and thought they all were great. So, when I got to the Bluesky Hostel, I was totally shocked. The location is okay - in a student area with nice cafes around and the subway about a block away. The receptionist was nice enough, but not friendly. However, it was so dirty, I couldn't take a shower there, and had to get a hotel room. There was never any toilet paper in the bathroom closest to my room. The carpet outside the kitchen was soaked with mysterious liquid. I didn't see any decorations any where. It was a total jail cell. I was so happy to get out of there.

This hostel sucked. There were drunk celtics supporters in our room on the first night. They kept terrorizing guests til police came at 5 am and took her out. Shower was broke. The room was cold as hell and the glass of our Window was nearly broken. Lounge was small and some staff members were not nice at all. I Will never stay in this hostel again.

If you want to stay in a dodgy part of town, then this is probably for you. It was extremely disconcerting that the signs on the door all stated that we had to be extremely careful. The staff wasn't friendly as we walked in the use the internet and they wouldn't even say hello. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was alright. Duvets on the bed were comfortable. I wouldn't stay there again as I didn't really feel very comfortable. And had to sleep holding my bag.

On a weekend break to take in the film festival and mosey around the west end. When we arrived we found the hostel to be in a good location and the guy on reception was in very good spirits. We chose the hostel for the price £30 for a double room with ensuite and breakfast(although not to be). But the standard of up keep and cleanliness of the hostel soon became apparent. The house keeper hadn't finished our room, which wasn't a problem. Although she was a very nice lady, her cleaning of the bathroom took about 30 seconds and left the room smelling heavily of air freshener. i don't blame this on the lady, she obviously has too many rooms to cover. Although the beds were quite good, the walls and floors of the room were in a poor state ( a hole under one bit of the carpet) and rusty fittings in the bathroom, just a net curtain. The kitchen was tiny for the size of the hostel and not very nice, it was up to the guests to wash their own plates as standard, but there wasn't great facility to do that - no washing up liquid, one grimy tea towel, and the fridge stunk. A rather disapointing point was the promised breakfast, although by then we didn't expect much, we were amused to find just rice krispies, one slice of bread and a bowl of butter left for us and other guests to come, Glad we brought some of our own! we wouldn't recommend this place to anyone - you're better off paying a few bob more for a b&b or dare i say a travel lodge. In its defence, the staff we encountered were nice (We've both worked as live-in hotel staff before and we wouldn't want to imagine the standard of the accomodation these guys put up with!) and i can i imagine from other reviews, this might be ok if you're a student backpacker out to get wasted and pay no attention to your surroundings.

Very good hostel for short stay. Hostel is situated near a subway station but it is not so far from the city centre. We staid in 8 beds room with toilet and shower which was out of order. There was one shower on the first floor with hot water. Nice lounge with free internet. But mattress wasn't very comfortable. I could feel every spring in it. But the room and sheets was clean.
