“Good beer and live music”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

This place gets packed especially at weekends and no wonder. The service is excellent they have good beers on tap. They do food and have a restaurant upstairs.
Often musicians will just arrive and provide an impromptu concert. Great atmosphere.

“Great Food, In A Great Venue”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

The building has evidently been here since the eighteenth century and oozes tradition inside and out. When we entered the "Pub" on the way upstairs to the restaurant on a cold windy night we were treated by live fiddle music being enjoyed by the patrons in the bar. The upstairs restaurant is surprisingly a lot more sedate, but gives the emphasis to good food and service. After our climb up the stairs (no lift) we were promptly welcomed and seated at our table the menu is short which meant that the three of us having different dishes let us almost sample the entire menu between us and everything was tasty and properly cooked and obviously made freshly on the premises. One impressive point was that all the mains were served with vegetables at no extra charge, something that a lot of Glasgow's "fancy" eateries could learn from. My only slight quibble would be the wine list which for a dining room above a pub was lacking in choice and in general a bot expensive. One tip though would be to wear layers of clothing which are easily shed, as the restaurant and kitchen share a rather small space and even on a cold winters night in was very very warm! On the whole though a very nice and different restaurant to which I shall return.

We love Babbitys,my husband for the selection of ales, the wine is good also. The food is always good. Reasonable and the staff are delightful pribably because the owner Fraser is so hands on. This is our favourite bar in Glasgow and we always take our visitors there.

Great place off main street in Merchant area.
Real fire, real ale and a great atmosphere.
Staff were welcoming and would have quite comfortably stayed later but weekday nights and all that .
