“Wonderful place but shame about the niggles”
Reviewed 22 May 2012

Fantastic location, beautiful building, unbeatable spa..
However, soft & squishy mattress was a big disappointment, very odd lack of towel rails in the very fancy bathroom, and the ultra sombre decoration made for a very dark room. The spa closes rather early in the evening and guests only have access at certain times.
The "bed board" brought to help with the mattress problem did nothing at all.
The breakfast buffet was fabulous, but the cooked items really disappointing e.g. obviously pre-cooked scrambled eggs, and delivered to the table with extraordinary speed - no time to eat the lovely fruit etc first!
Having said all that, the decor is the lobby is sumptuous, and the Harris Tweed repeating theme intriguing.

I stayed in your hotel on Saturday the 19th of May and I had a fabulous stay. The spa was wonderful and the room was everything we needed it to be and more. Service was phenomenal throughout the hotel but the part of my stay that I feel most inclined to comment on, was the excellent service we received at breakfast. We came downstairs at around half past 9 and this is clearly a busy time for the restaurant! However, we still felt welcome and thought we were very well looked after! Keep up the good work and we'll definitely be staying again!

My new wife and I decided to spend the last night of our honeymoon at Blythswood Square and it was really an excellent decision. As far as I could tell, it's the only spa hotel in Glasgow, but it's really one of the best we've ever been to. Exceptionally good/efficient/quick room service matched with very plush rooms, though if you're looking for acres of space, you'll need to upgrade from the standard room, which is dominated by the (wonderful!) bed.

We had a great cocktail in the fantastically chic bar, overlooking the square - enjoying the old architecture etc. before heading out onto the town for dinner (another tip here, go to Stravaigin 2 restaurant on the West Side of the city - it's a wonderfully intimate restaurant and the food was scrumptious).

The icing on the cake of Blythswood Square, however, is the spa. Lots of thought has clearly gone into it, and whilst it seemed every single hotel guest was taking advantage of the 'free to residents' between 6-9pm, it was big enough and had enough different rooms to handle us all comfortably. If you're there at the weekend and are really looking for solitude, it may well be worthwhile to plump a few extra quid and use the spa when it's not free to residents...

Overall, a wonderful hotel and we'll certainly be returning!

My mom and I spent two nights here. We found the service to be outstanding. The hotel is beautiful. The breakfasts are really delicious -- lots of options. You should definitely take your bathing suit, so that you can enjoy the complimentary spa to the fullest. The location is good - you can walk into the city center very easily. We also were able to take the bus into the West End very conveniently. We walked from the Queen Street train station to get here. I would recommend this hotel without reservation and would stay here again.

We had a lovely experience at this hotel, though you do have to splurge to stay here. Beautiful hotel and great food. everything was excellent except I do have to say that the rooms were a little dark. Overall we had a great time. Definately a couples hotel rather than a family hotel.

Went here for a pre-dinner cocktail early on a Saturday evening. We waited around 15+mins before being served. Way too long given that they were not too busy. The cocktails arrived and they were very nice indeed but took far too long to arrive. Would we go back, probably not.
