“Wonderful stay!”
Reviewed 29 January 2014 via mobile

Just returned from Blythswood Square hotel. On arrival we were greeted at reception by Katrina & received a nice welcome with a speedy efficient check-in. Our car was parked for us with no hassle from a very pleasant concierge man. It was duly returned at the exact time requested on our departure. We were shown & our luggage was taken to our room. The rooms are spacious with extremely comfortable beds. The bathroom was immaculate & a great size. Following arrival we enjoyed a very nice afternoon tea. Staff were all very pleasant & courteous. We visited the spa area which is one of the best I have been to. Again friendly pleasant staff showed us around the various areas. Food & beverages are also served in this area which is perfect for chilling. There is a large choice at the cold breakfast buffet & a hot breakfast was cooked to order which was delicious. All the staff working in this area could not do enough to make sure all was well. Thank you to the manager here who does a great job. The hotel is situated in the centre of town so easy access to most places. We certainly found the hotel to be of 5 star quality.

I visited the Blythswood Square Hotel recently for a drink with my friend and just want to say how lovely the staff were. We were upstairs in the cocktail bar and we were served by Corrie, who, not only is he friendly and helpful, is very knowledgable and informative about wine/cocktails and appears to enjoy it too. There were also two other staff members there, Amy and Phil who made us feel very welcome and looked after us very well. We'll definitely be back for more.
The best place to go for a drink/cocktail !!!

My girlfriend and I always go away for her birthday and this year we decided to stay a little closer to home and enjoy Glasgow. From check-in with the very helpful and welcoming staff, we were treated to the best of service. We arrived in the room to find complimentary chocolates and prosecco along with a lovely note from the manager telling us to enjoy the birthday stay. The rooms were lovely with stunning marble bathrooms. The view was towards the back of the building but not really important for us. We were supplied robes and footwear for the spa. The spa itself was fantastic too. Exceptionally clean, enormously relaxing and fantastic layout. After heading out for dinner, we arrived back for some great cocktails (albeit after a bit of a wait - the only down point of stay). Breakfast was good with perhaps our tastes and expectations a bit different to what was on offer. I genuinely felt that nothing was too much trouble and left feeling we would have paid double for what we experienced. Leaves Cameron House & Carrick trailing greatly in my opinion.

Room Tip: We had one of their "Classic Bedrooms" i.e their lowest standard but it was still absolute...

Booked a deluxe room for one night for a special occasion and was delighted to be upgraded to the Blythswood Suite. The room itself was large, with separate dining area and half portioned bedroom. It was very nice, but lacked warmth and sophistication that other 5 star hotels have. The bathroom was large, and black. Large black bath and had 3 trough like basins that were black and had a jaded bloom about them. The shower was a disaster though ! It is a large shower with drain cover missing and because of the bloom on the tiling it just looked dirty. The worst part was the flooding that ensued on actually using it.
The whole bathroom was flooded, and rendering it unusable after two showers. If you need the loo once you were dressed it was tough unless you fancied a paddle. Fortunately there is another small loo in the suite. This is not the standard expected of a 5 star hotel ! We did mention it to the receptionist at time of check out and her reply was that "yes we know about it ".

This room would cost anything between 500 - 950 per night under normal circumstances and reading between the lines I think people on a one night only special occasion are given this room as
anyone paying full price for this room for more than one night would ask to be moved.

The staff were excellent, very attentive and faultless. The general standard of furnishings and decor in the hotel shows some wear and tear and could do with a paint job. We did eat in the dining room and it was 5 star prices for 4 star food. It was average, not exceptional.

So all in all we enjoyed our stay, but wouldn't hurry back. The Blythswood management team could do with checking out other 5 star hotels in Scotland and compare the standards. Prestonfield ticks all the boxes for us.

I know its an old building and has it quirks but the paint splashes on the floors, dusty glass shelves, and grubby walls do not make it a 5 star establishment.

Mr and Mrs Blain-stayed in 410 on 13th Jan-this was a return stay following staying in the hotel on a ladies weekend to celebrate my 50th in September.
Here goes-
Door staff and check in staff-very welcoming.
Room just lovely and so quiet-lighting needs tweaked though-a bit dark.
We used the spa facilities for a couple of hours and really chilled out,
We ate from the market menu for dinner -food was delicious -duck was cooked to my liking and we enjoyed all 3 courses-I can recommend the prosecco and the restaurant staff were great!
Same with breakfast and the hotel had a really
good atmosphere.

I love this hotel and my Hubby did too so I'm sure we will be back-HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Room Tip: Room 410 was nice and quiet.

I stayed here for 3 nights with work. The hotel is excellent from the smooth check in to the immaculate rooms.

I would highly recommend having stayed at many hotels in Glasgow this is by far the best one.

Usually stay in one of the Wee rooms when we visit. This time we upgraded to a suite and to be homest regretted it. Actually preferred the cosiness of the little rooms and thought the suite was a bit strange ( wasn't a fan of the big red lamp shades) and room just felt cold. That said, i still think this is a great place to stay if coming to Glasgow for a bit of shopping / night out. I think it is good value for money and love the little bar on the first floor!!
