The best thing about this hotel is the staff - they were really friendly and helpful - but the hotel itself doesn't really deliver on promise. There was a wedding on the night we stayed and the hotel was noisy - we didn't get a good nights sleep. The market menu dinner was very good - although again nothing to write home about.
The spa was nice, but probably a bit too warm.
We really thought it was going to be special, and it wasn't.

I Stayed for one night with 3 friends in the deluxe twin rooms with a lovely view over Blythswood Square. The hotel is centrally located and walking distance from Glasgow Central train station although it is uphill. All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive without being overbearing. The rooms were spacious with a large black marble ensuite bathroom with separate bath and shower. The twin beds were small standard size but comfortable .The welcome board of sweets was a thoughtful touch. The complimentary toiletries were Ila and rather strongly scented.Bathrobes and slippers were provided for use in the hotel. Our rooms were directly above the cocktail lounge and the music was audible however by the time we retired for the night the hotel was quiet. There was some traffic noise but it wasn't intrusive. The windows are secondary glazed only .The entire hotel is decorated in red black and grey with RAC photographs and memorabilia as a tribute to its previous heritage. The thermal spa was excellent again with a good mixture of steam rooms ,hot rooms ,saunas and pools in black marble and dimly lit.Dinner was wonderful with a good value fixed price menu.Choosing from the a la carte menu pushed the price up considerably. The cocktail bar is not to be missed with a delightful ambience and a 48 page black book of cocktails. When one of our party didn't like her beverage a substitute was provided free of charge .Breakfast was first class although the service was not as slick as at dinner and our table had no butter dish or marmalade.I returned home relaxed and feeling on top of the world.

Stayed here for 1 night as a treat, our first night away since having our baby.

On arrival we where met by friendly, competant staff, who checked us in quickly and early had, originally only went to leave our cases so this was a nice surprise to be checked in 4 hours early. Our cases where taken to our room and everything in the room was explained to us and robes where brought to us to use the spa.

The room was gorgeous with a lovely big comfortable bed, TV with 5.1 surround sound, good channels. The bathroom was great with separate rain shower also which has speakers from the television this can be turned off. AC was good. Mini bar avaliable and tea/coffee facilities.

We went to The Salon for a cocktail before we went out for dinner. We sat by the window over looking the square it was lovely. We where served quickly and the cocktails where well presented.

Breakfast was good, full choice of continental with plently of fresh juice and fruit. Tea/coffee and a round of toast when you sat down. We then ordered a full Scottish breakfast which was fantastic.

After breakfast we used The Spa we did the thermal circuit. The spa is fantastic well laid out changing area is big and spacious. Bottles of water are available for you to have.
When you are in the spa there is a guide that you can follow if you wish to have the best experience from the thermal circuit. We thoroughly enjoyed it and spend a good 2 hours in it. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Checkout was straight forward.

We loved our stay at Blythswood Square hotel, from the friendly staff, great room and good sleep to the food and the spa we cannot wait to return.

Stayed at the blythswood for one night, booked into a standard room and when we got there found they had upgraded us free of charge! Everything about this hotel is 5star, I can honestly say this is the best hotel I have stayed in, the spa, rooms and food/wine were all excellent. The only downside was they forgot to put our breakfast order through to the kitchen and kept us waiting for an hour, however as soon as I pointed this out the meal was on our table within ten minutes, a unfortunate end to a fantastic stay but that would definitely not put me off going again, its on my list of top hotels in the world!!

Spent three nights. Our room was very nice but on arrival the main light and tv were not working. Had to wait for maintenance to come and fix but had ongoing problems with tv. For the price charged would expect bathrobes to be provided. Breakfasts were good. We didn't have time to use the spa during the hours it is complimentary for guests, so can't comment on that. The building is lovely and location is great.

Lovely comfortable hotel, central location, warm friendly staff, large beds...good food...right in the centre of Glasgow.
The Spa is excellent and free to residents at certain times, which we took full advantage of. There are often special offers on treatments too.
The main shopping area is 3/5 minutes walk away, as are a range of Macintosh buildings - The Willow Tea Room and Glasgow College of Art - all worth a visit.
We 'did' the Macintosh trail, including a drive out to Helensburgh to see Hill House.
We plan to go back again as there is so much we did not see or experience.

Website states deluxe rooms have a view and a surround system that works. I was forced to change room both times I stayed in the hotel as certain staff members did not know how to function the surround system, while others stated not all deluxe have a surround system or view. The spa was very comfortable. I noticed however one of the websites stated there was a discount at the spa if you stayed in the hotel. When booking I asked reservations if that is true and was told it was so i was transferred to the spa where I booked my treatment. After the treatment I was informed there was no such discount. Yet i was provided with the discount as a good Will gesture. Which I completely appreciate but would not happen if there was more communication between staff. Certain Deluxe rooms had lights burnt and unchanged while others had cracks on the bath tub window to the bedroom. Again very minor but for 5 star hotel to have no functioning surround system and burnt lamps for a deluxe which apart from the size it will set it apart from the classic room is disappointing.
So I would say for service the hotel is great, overcoming the discount problem and switching me to a better room. However the facilities can be disappointing as it appears the hotel does not go that extra mile to make sure rooms are as advertised and provide equal facilities for the deluxe. It appears some deluxe rooms will provide you with one thing while others will provide you with something else
