“Innovatively designed and great value for money”
Reviewed 14 April 2012

We really loved this place and it has to be one of the most unique hotel experiences we've both had in a long time! It offers attractive and clever design at an affordable price.

On arrival, the self service check in was very intuitive and trouble free – much easier than those in your average supermarket! The downstairs lounge areas looked funky, bold and inviting, and we enjoyed having a drink there later in the evening.

The first thing that struck us in the room was the massive bed! Although the room itself is on the small side, thoughtful design and imaginative use of space more than compensate for this. Anyway, who needs massive amounts of floorspace on a weekend break? We had great fun playing with the centralised remote control which operates the blinds, lighting, heating and TV. The glass shower and WC pod sat really well as a design feature in the room although you'd probably need to know your room partner reasonably well to appreciate this fully!

In terms of sleep quality the blackout blinds really helped us get a good nights sleep. On the down side, the room temperature did seem a bit on the cool side and certainly lower than the 23 degrees. It was also difficult to dim the lighting to a very low level. There was also a bit of passing noise in the corridor although the carpeting (complete with an aerial view of Glasgow!) probably helped keep this to a minimum. One small oversight seemed to be the lack of a bin inside the room? A kettle may have come in useful, although I know such things mainly tend to be the preserve of British guest houses which this certainly isn't! I've only really mentioned these as points of detail rather than criticisms as the technology and design more than made up for these.

We thought the breakfast offering was generous and good quality – particularly the sausages! At £7.95, the pricing also seemed reasonably well pitched.

The city centre location could not be more accessible – close to bus and rail stations and the M8. However, it's just a shame that the more immediate views out of the big picture windows could not perhaps be a bit more appealing.

We would more than happily stay here again and have been keen to find out more about other hotels in the Citizen M group.

Room Tip: May be issues with occasional noise from the street but the windows are well insulated and you could...

Loved this hotel, especially the bedding! Rooms might be a bit small for two ("attached" couples excepted), but for a short business trip, it is ideal. No closet space to speak of, but that was not a problem. Loved that almost everything was controlled by the remote. Too bad I couldn't start the shower that way :-D Speaking of the shower, what a cool concept. I would definitely come back.

Stayed at Citizen M , Glasgow for 3 nights. On the whole it is very good indeed, trendy, spotlessly clean and good location. There are some drawbacks though which prevented me from classing it as excellent. We were on a bit of a tour having been to Sheffield and would be going on to North Yorkshire so had a fair bit of luggage i.e. 2 average size suitcases and 2 carryon size bags. The room was so small , I would call it a 'pod' as opposed to a room, there was no storage for the cases or any form of wardrobe just hanging space for coats. We had to live out of the suitcases then close them up each and everytime. There is no parking at the hotel (made very clear on the hotel website) we had to park a bit way from the hotel at £10 per 24 hrs.

The good points, very trendy, spotlessly clean, king size bed with quality duvet, pillows and bed linen. Brilliant rain shower, free movies and free wifi. We had drinks in the bar which were a nice place to sit and watch the world go by but did not have breakfast there.

To be honest although I have given a 4 rating and stated it as very good I don't think it would be to everyones taste. If you are young and hip and travel light you'll love it.

Room Tip: We found the 6th floor to be really quiet.

The room here is just big enough, has a wonderful king sized bed, free internet, free movies, funky mood lighting and is a bit 'different' with everything available at the touch of a button. I really enjoyed my 5 night stay and was extremely comfortable. I paid for breakfast ahead of time as it's cheaper. It was Ok but luke warm as it was a buffet arrangement and lost it's heat quickly. The eating area could have been a bit cleaner, the benches weren't cleaned properly, had only had a half hearted wipe each morning (but I'm just being fussy). The rooms were really clean, though the carpets in the corridors needed a bit more vacuuming. The coffee was good. The staff were friendly and the location is excellent. I would stay here again.

Had a great stay, really quiet room, comfortable, clean and cosy. Tech was useful as well as fun (although the Love mood setting was a bit bizarre!). For a short stay I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room just ask :)
